Not much progress to report. Just making a lot of shavings and dust for a while now! Shaping and sanding leading edges, trailing edges, and various other surfaces.

Spent today with Hysol and Titebond on several projects, including the Beaver.

Also made a quick and easy way to hang the Timber.

Still moving at the speed of molasses on a cold winters day…

First the motivational shot! Both wings set at the correct incidence and with a 100+ inch span.

Then back to “tiling” or weighing down the skin with floor tiles until the glue dries. Used Titebond for the wing skins, both edge gluing the 48” sheets and fixing to the spars and ribs.

Worked on the upper fuselage of the Beaver yesterday and continued on the CAD work for the fs Staggerwing. Lower fuselage of the Beaver was the topic for today. That and a few details like joining the upper wing on a 1/5 scale Eagle.

What are you doing on the Staggerwing?

Hopefully we will see a full scale Staggerwing on floats within the next year. All of the pieces are coming together to make that happen.

I located the Edo drawings from 1937 on AirCorps Library a few weeks ago. This is a great resource for many things. LINK HERE

Still missing a few pieces but getting closer day by day. Maybe I should do a thread on this project.

By pure coincidence I discovered the Edo drawings while looking for drawings for a Jack Pad.

In the old days, we would hoist the airplane for a gear retraction test. Now it seems people are more comfortable jacking the airplane.

We’re modifying the original design to eliminate any potential rocking and make a tighter fit. Amazing what 3D printing enables these days. Spend a few dollars on plastic before committing to cutting metal.

My partner in crime has a shop with a few videos you mind find interesting.
