Been working on the 104NG after I plopped it. Thought I had more pictures but I’ll take some more of my progress later. I reverse engineered the landing block in CAD and laser cut it with my own rendition of birch ply with a carbon/red Kevlar bonded to it.

The other thing taking up all my time is making all these medallions for a local race. This is the third year I’ve made these, obviously aug 2nd is really super close so I’ve been chomping at the bit.

Sorry to see that it will take some time and patience to get that back in the air. One item I always find difficult and time consuming is fixing cowls.

Thanks, yeah the part that's got me struggling is the formers that crunched as it's hard to make a template of splinters

Here’s a couple photos of the gear block I recreated with birch ply laminated with red Kevlar Carbon weave along with some other pieces. The power of calipers, geometry, CAD, and a laser cutter. The 40W diode laser had no problem cutting this.

Nice work. I have been looking into getting a diode laser.
It’s been fun, just gotta make sure you have an enclosure and a strong extraction fan. This was 21hours of burning 3mm ply for the medallions I made. Been using 12”x20” sheets, altough it’s a limitation on building airframes, you just need to learn how to make puzzle or alignment joints in order to make a big section. This being the XTool S1, I liked the price and safety functions. If I had more coin I’d get a co2 laser. The XTool P2 is nice, but at that point I’d think an industrial laser would be about the same cost. This has been a good intro to lasers for me, but ultimately if one wanted to be more commercially ready I’d get the lightburn software with a non-desktop co2 laser.

Anyone still interested in nitro engines? I bought out a collection yesterday. I'll be listing them on ebay as time allows. Feel free to use the make offer option if you see something you like.

So far I have 4 of them posted. Keep checking my eBay items cause I'll be posting more as I get the time.
