Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Will these struts bear a side or up/down load? Or will it be end load? Reason I ask is if they will be bearing load from end to end, they should be just fine. Side load or otherwise could allow them to bend. But you knew that huh? LOL I have a couple of clamps like these. Not the quality brand...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Absolutely gorgeous weather today. I just couldn't resist awakening the superior 3W "Beasts" from their long winter naps. So happy, and not a bit surprised those dubs didn't even fight coming back to life. A few choked flips, a couple more unchoked and the beasts roared to life.

No skinny mini, but I highly doubt the penalty of a few meager ounces will ever be noticed in that maddeningly behemoth sky ship.

I could handle those accommodations. As long as two of the four bays are filled with massively large flying apparatuses. LOL

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Grrr... realized I don't have enough white to start the wings. Soooo.... I guess I will start putting the top accent colors on the stabs/elevators. Very slow going because I have to cut everything by hand. Not sure how this is going to look once the other colors are on. I hope it looks...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Finally a break from work. And of course, the weather sucks!! So I'm back to a little more covering on the 330. As it stands, I've decided against the lights for the 330. Couple of reasons being... first I'm trying to keep this plane as absolutely light as possible. Second being, if I put lights...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

The final concept is decided. And may just roll with it. Still however, I'm toying with the idea of altering the checker board squares. A slight variation may take place when it comes down to covering the tops of the wings and stabs. Also the fuse. Just depends on how tenacious I get with the...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Not much time lately to work on the 330. Did however get the 1/4" balsa stock glued on and shaped. Added a little filler to take up any imperfections. Soon, I can start covering the bottom of the wings. The wings are in near perfect condition. Only discovered a couple of "rash" marks...

Thanks Earle. Not a hundred percent certain on putting lights on it. But definitely worth looking at and considering.

I can imagine how much fun that project would have been to do. Kudo's to you and your bro. I think it looks totally bad ass. Just curious... having the engine flipped 180 degrees makes for some awesome exhaust too. Did it perform pretty well? I wouldn't think it would make a diff. if the carbys...

Gotta love them O.S. 4 stroke engines. I had a 160 on a Carl Goldberg Sukhoi. It was pretty good power for that plane. Not unlimited like our setups these days. But dang did it sound awesome. Never got a chance to put my 320 Pegasus in anything. Just really makes me want to revert back to those...

How cool is that? So many times in my nitro days I had seen guys with this problem. Sometimes obsolete, guys had to "Mickey mouse" things to get them to work. Not any longer. Ain't technology great? :way_to_go:

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Hey everyone... had to make an emergency trip this week to Portland to rescue my daughter, (This you already know), yesterday I repaired all the damage from her little encounter with the evil snow. And so back to the 330 recover. It is sort of a pity this covering is going bye bye. It's really...
