The I'm going out flying thread 2016

65 degrees and sunny here with NO wind. I have the day off and I am not flying... UGH! I have been laid up the past 4 days due to a epidural shot complication of fluid leakage. Very frustrating to not be able to capitalize on a gorgeous day!!! Hope all that can enjoy:)

Sport 30% Edge 540 Pete Marshall Plans with Laser Cut Short Kit

Hi all, This is my first buld thread. I do have 5 kits under my belt. This will be my first short kit and first giant scale/gas airplane. Thanks Chris for finding this for me. It looks like it will be amazing when I get her done. Thanks Rob for making the short kit for me. I currently do no...

This has been a very good read for getting ready to build my first gs plane. Thanks!! I will be leaning towards a smart fly system.

What are you going to build in 2015?

Travis, I haven't decided on a cowl yet. I am planning to use extreme flight's landing gear and canopy. Their cowl is also larger than what our Edge needs so it also could be modified to work. I think I will be putting a DA70 in it This project may take me a while to build up all the funds since...

I was curious to see what I needed to be very skeptical about with these batteries... Made me look!!

What are you going to build in 2015?

Thanks for that lead Chris! I printed the plans last week. I took them to my LHS to make sure they would be stocked on the wood I require to finish the project. I will do that build thread and hope to get some good insight from all the vast experience of others.

What are you going to build in 2015?

I will be finishing up a Top-Flite P-47 (.60 sized) that I build for electric power with some modifications hopefully by the end of February. Then I will be building a short kit from a Pete Marshall plan with a short kit made by RCpilot82. That is a 30% Edge 540. I can't wait to start that...

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

David, I have seen that Cap. I am not sure about the non-wood fuselage. The Wacos they make look really interesting, but I don't anything that large yet!! Thanks!

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

Thanks for all the replies. Looking more into the ARFs, there are so many good planes! It really is awesome to see that. Keep em coming for sure! Hopefully more kits pop up yet.

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

I am most definitely not biased towards monoplanes. That's exciting that at least 1 kit was found that could be a contender!!!

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

Pawnshopmike, I like your idea. I do like getting my stuff used anyway. Since I live in Tucson, it'll be a nice summer project if I am not deployed. Otherwise it might turn into a fall/winter project. This project will begin as soon as my P-47 is maidened. I am still working on the bottom half...

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

That kit most definitely 3Ds!!! That would also be much easier to repair if the inevitable happens as well. How much noticeable difference is there between the 30cc and the 50cc sized planes in performance and stability?

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured that any kits that size would be very old style and expensive. I will be seriously considering the 30cc planes to save some cash to get the 100cc kit to build a little faster. I will will hold on for a while yet in hopes someone knows of the 50cc kit:)

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

I do really enjoy flying my EF MXS 64". So that's most definitely a top contender. How about comparisons as well from the different models? Or do they all fly pretty close to the same so I can just choose the one that is in stock at the time if I end up getting it?

Is there any 50cc KITS that can do 3D??

My next project will be a 50cc aerobatic plane. I fly a mix of 3D (Still learning) and normal aerobatics. I also like having long projects to do. So I am in the market for a non-ARF plane to build. Do these exist somewhere as a kit to buy? I know there are some but I have no idea if they are...

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the info. I was thinking 60cc for its power and DA is right here in Tucson if something ever went wrong with it. I am very open to suggestions for sure. I will probably make a thread in the engine section for suggestions:)

    Hi everyone!

I am planning on trying out gas for the first time. I want a plane I can fly for a LONG time. I can currently get 8 minutes out of my EF MXS on 6s 5000s. I just bought 3300s for it to really bring down the wing loading. So that will bring my flight times down dramaticly. Anyway, I am thinking on...

    Hi everyone!

I love being that close to the field. I can sneak out much easier to fly for an hour or 2 instead of always being a half day long ordeal.
