    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

Looking good! Sorry I have not been on here for while, have been super busy. To answer the question about the mounting guide. I hand cut them and send them by request with the purchase of the motors from ZDZ USA or Aeroworks. Curious, how many gallons have you gone through now?

Anyone Running 32:1 Redline in a DA?

I have tried all the brands and prefer redline 32:1. I do know the motor can handle 40:1. I ran 32:1 in my DA's back in the day. They ran cool and preformed good. I also use av gas. This is just my opinion from my experience.

    3D Aeroworks 40% Edge ZDZ180

Hinging is done. I did gap seal the wings (even though it did't really need it). On the rudder I am changing the hinges to the flat du-bro. I take a 1/4x1/4 square balsa medium density and sand it to be round. I then use tite bond 2 wood glue and stick it in the hole. Using a sharp razor I cut...

    3D Aeroworks 40% Edge ZDZ180

The ZDZ the brand is a phenomenal engine. I know firsthand that ZDZ USA has top-notch customer service and takes great care of their customers.

    3D Aeroworks 40% Edge ZDZ180

Moving on to hinging wings. When using robart hinges I like to cut a small 'cone' out of the wood and covering. By doing this it makes it so there is no rubbing and the hinge can move smoothly. I use hysol 9462 to glue in the hinges. You can use any kind of quality 2 part epoxy but I prefer...

    3D Aeroworks 40% Edge ZDZ180

The motor is now on. The baffling is built in to cowling on this one. It has a really cool top to bottom interlocking system, like the 40% Yak 55 has. I am trimming next to the spark plug caps and doing a little trim work on the baffling to ensure it does not hit the motor.

    3D Aeroworks 40% Edge ZDZ180

This is a prototype that Aeroworks has been working on. They do not have an ETA as of yet. I am very excited to do this project. I saw this plane while I was at the Aeroworks facility and loved the lines of the plane. A couple weeks later I called them up and was able to buy it. I was not...

    3D 52% Edge 540 vs slick 540

Slowly but surely some progress is being made. I was able to finish one wing complete with coreing. The other wing is very close as well. They should be finalized and ready for covering this week.

    Aeroworks with ZDZ180

She is done! We are now waiting for a runway to clear up so we can fly her. It weighs in at 41lbs 6oz. 4 elevator servos, 3 aileron servos, 2 7980's on the rudder, JMB cans, a falcon 32/12, and a Pete's 5 inch spinner. Thank you to all who participated in the sale and thread! We hope you...

    Aeroworks with ZDZ180

Putting on the final touches. One of them is black plastic loom over the wires. I get it the auto parts store in 1/4 inch. I put a small zip tie at each end. I like it better than the spiral loom which can be too tight and cause the same problems as electrical tape. Never use electrical tape...

    Aeroworks with ZDZ180

Used the aero works factory servo mounts and a 4 1/2 inch turn buckle so that I can get it programmed and adjusted perfect. I have been using turn buckles for some time now and really like the adjustability, resulting in a more precise programming .

I have never seen those before. It looks like they would work but I wonder if the hinge piece would be too small? Something to look at and try though.

That is a great idea. I usually use a brush and paint a little clear coat on right there. It seems to really help.

My good friend Jim came over and while we hung out he cut all of the lower air vents in the cowling for me. He did a great job, thanks!

The rudder is finished and I have moved onto finishing the motor. I built the mount for the JMB canister. I took a piece of light ply and curved the back of the canister tunnel. I then filled in the side voids with 1/8 balsa. When that was all done I painted it grey with a clear coat.

A plane is used up when it looks like this!

    Aeroworks with ZDZ180

Tonight I started working on the rudder. I prefer flat hinges on the rudder so that I can have a wire and remove the rudder when needs be. You know those dang tail touches that we just have to do and when you have to fit it in a smaller vehicle. I take a 1/4x1/4 balsa stick and lightly round...
