EMAC - Electric ONLY IMAC Events

I built a 118" Carden Extra as an electric and it worked out well and I can fly 2 Unlimited sequences with it. 4 7S 9000 mAhr Revo batteries, MGM400A ESC, Plettenberg 37 Evo motor, Mejlik 29x13.5Q prop. I took a lot of weight out of the standard kit and manages an all up weight of 37.5 lbs. It...

IMAC 93" AJ Laser - Electrified

AMASS AS150 or Jeti antispark connectors work well and you don't need to plug in another wire.

    AJ 93" Laser on Q80

I use two 6S 25C 8000 mAhr batteries with the Q80 in my 91" EF Extra and can fly two advanced sequences with it using either a Mejzlik 24x10TH or Xoar 24x12.

    IMAC JTEC 2.7m Extra 300CS

The gear is centered in the slot. The two formers in the middle are just a piece of lite ply, about 3/4" wide with a notch for the longeron. The rear one replaces the center portion of the kit version that is very weak. After I sheeted the bottom, I cut out the LG slot a 1/4 inch wider than the...

    IMAC JTEC 2.7m Extra 300CS

It looks good so far. I also found that some of the formers break really easy during installation, I broke my share. This photo shows the extra formers and sticks I added to the bottom, I think it makes it more like the 3.1m version. I also extended the corner 45 degree 1/4 x 1/4 longerons back...

If it flies as good as mine, you are in for a treat.

IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

I used only 1 Futaba BLS177SV per aileron which is about 500 in-oz. Others are using the same setup on their 40% Extras, so it is plenty for this size plane. My full setup was posted here...

IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

I am flying the 2.7 CS with an electric setup equivalent to a 100cc motor and it is very competitive flying IMAC Advanced against larger planes. Very little mixing is required to take out any rudder coupling. I was very weight conscious when I built it because I knew I needed 8 lbs of batteries...

IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

On my 2.7m CS Extra, I shortened the ailerons so that they stop inline with the ends of the stabs. I also reduced the elevator to about a 1/3 of the stab chord. I have a roughly scale rudder counter balance, mostly because I like how it looks.  I am quite happy with the way it flies and did...

Electric Competes and Finishes 2nd in Advanced

Thanks for that, suprisingly to me and Wayne Mathews as well, that some judges chose to give me as low as a 7. Since I flew most flights and never heard my airplane at all, I am not sure why. I think noise is a serious problem facing IMAC in some regions, and unless the sound scores are...
