quick Q&A with AMA Pres. Bob Brown

I had some time to speak with AMA Pres. Bob Brown at E-Fest this past weekend. The big question was one that a lot of you have brought up, whether or not flying clubs and other traditional AMA member activities would still be there for us when the FAA is done regulating sUAS ("drones").

His answer was a confident "Yes". He felt, based on what he's seen in meetings and elsewhere, that our traditional flying activities will still be there for us when the FAA finally publishes sUAS related regulations.

Here's the video and please subscribe to our youtube channel when it's done!

Thanks guys, we actually spoke for 10-15 minutes at the very opening of the show and I caught up to him pater to get the video with Bunky. It's hard for me to decide if I think the AMA is doing a great job or a lousy job. The AMA should have been all over the multi-rotor segment of the hobby much earlier than it was and I said that to Bob. Waiting as long as they did let a lot of other people shape the debate and new users, hobby shops, manufacturers, etc all went unguided through the explosion of sales leaving us where we are now.
With multi-rotors being aeronautical vehicles though it is my opinion that they belong within the AMA for hobbyists but from what I see as host of multirotorforums.com, there are a lot of groups trying to get the multi-rotor flyers into their organizations. The FAA seems to be on the side of the AMA which helps but it's still anybody's game.

If @Gandhi were here he'd tell us to live in peace with each other and to have a dish of nuts and berries.
