74" Edge 540

You can do it. Just you need to relocate the rudder horn I believe and make a custom push rod. My old one had a tail rudder servo, but I bought it used and it has been modified apparently.
 
Thanks,don't know why they mention to put it in the tail when using gas setup then.

I was never able to find a manual on this airframe. On their web page, 3DHS says to use the 72" Extra manual for this airframe. As you found, the 72" Extra manual says to use a push-pull servo in the tail if you're using a gasoline engine (to achieve CG). I tried to contact 3DHS to ask them but I was never able to talk to anyone. All the advice I got on the forums said to use a pull-pull setup. Your mileage may vary.

For what it's worth, my plane balances well with a DLE-30 and pull-pull rudder. Just a very slight push on the elevator to keep level in inverted flight.

Thanks for the help. I just went with the pull pull setup and i hope get lucky with the cg and not have to put the battery to far back.
 
After a few little odds and ends i plan on Breaking everything down and fuel proofing anything near fuel and go threw with some lock tite. What do u guys use for fuel proofing. I planed on some clear polyurethane.

I also am not sure about the bottom hole in the cowl lining up with the carb. Do you guys think it will be to much disturbed air flow and should i baffle some how? Thanks
 
A little bling to the 74" Edge. WR ti axles and 3.5 wheels and some splats. I like it! Mufflers were installed backwards but didn't realize until I posted the pic.

I have used both denatured alcohol diluted epoxy and Krylon clear to do fuel proofing. It is not my favorite step to be honest.

I did have a fuel leak in my Ultrastick 40 that got my 10cc Evolution. It dissolved the epoxy on the firewall and it came completely loose. Luckily it was held in by slots.

I am not looking forward to it my self. I think I am just going to use clear polyurathane and see how it goes.
What do you think about the air with the carb intake.i think I am going to make some baffles to deflect the air to the jugs. What do you plan on doing with it?
 
I did my 92 this morning. Put some epoxy in a mixing cup and dilluted it 2:1 with alcohol. Then I brushed it on with a epoxy brush. Only took 10 minutes.

I have not baffled any of my motors yet, but after having to sent my DA-120 back last season I think I am going to do it to my 104 at least. [MENTION=443]ghoffman[/MENTION] is going to work with the 3D printer to make ABS baffles for a trial.

The VVRC 40 was first in a yak with direct airflow over it. Now it is in a 78 extra and has less direct airflow. I only flew it in this plane in 60 degree temps so I am not sure if there will be any issues.
 
Now with the mufflers switched around. Now I just need to finish drilling the prop, assemble the fuel tank, re-install Rx and clean-up the wiring. Hopefully I'll be able to fire it up next week depending on the weather.
