I have had good luck with power HD 1214TH on a 30cc bird. I paid $33 each for HV digitals. They have since gone up in price to around $50 anywhere I have looked but they have been really nice. I tried some solar D771 (I think that is the right number). Early tests were good... fast and good centering... but they ended up not holding up all that well and died an early death.

Have been using some Power HD 8309TG's in my 30cc birds. I forget what we paid for them, they were under $30 a piece. These were purchased from Troybuilt when they first came out. So far they are still holding center well, have good speed, and torque.

Can those Power HD 8309's be run at 7.4v? The price point looks good, and RedWingRC sells them too!

I am also wanting to run something better than the HS225MGs in my 60 inch planes. Although I have not suffered any failures with them I think my flying might improve with some better hardware that might not 'Break the bank"

Good luck! at that size (MG225) I have not found nor heard of anything better. Evidently the Savox servos that size are not really up to the task.

I am hoping to try some Align DS515's to see how they work...they are less expensive and seem to be of good quality...but they are still $40 each as compared to $26 for the HS225MGs.

Let us know what you find....this has been a tough niche to find good servos for (for me anyway)

I've had great luck with my XQ 4020s and XQ 4013 in my 50cc Slick from Redwing. Pair them up with MPI metal arms and they are great!

I got some used 5245s a while back that were advertised as under 20 flights. I installed them yesterday in my 3DHS 57SC after pulling the 225mgs out and the improvement was noticeable. Felt a little more connected. More than really helping the plane do maneuvers, at least at my skill level, it seemed to stop doing whatever you were doing in a more instantaneous manner. My point rolls and slow rolls were definitely improved.

Funny that you should share that. I just acquired some used 5245 myself and I'm going to put them in my 60 inch extra!
