Scale Where's the builds?

Are there any forums where the build thread forum is not over run with assembly threads disguised as builds?

I assume you are referring to an area here on GSN where the threads are separated.

@Bartman moved the Full Scale Discussions under Scale Flying with the thought of having a good place for scale reference material. Maybe a place already exists for builds versus assemblies. If not, should not be a big deal to set up.

One of the settings here is a way to filter threads. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, see below:

I find myself visiting RCSCALEBUILDER.COM frequently. Lots of interesting build threads and "how to" forums.
I am a member but don't much care for the lay out, requires almost knowing what is going on to find a particular build or craft and the pics are a pain.
I assume you are referring to an area here on GSN where the threads are separated. There is a build section but they are 80%+ assemblies.

There is no assembly section so they end up in build.

That is nice and I did not know that, but as others have noted different styles are built in different area, I personally would like to see them in the same place the build section.

Now that is a build thread and is exactly what I like to follow.
There's a bunch in the IMAC section of the build threads...
If they are not under build I don't see them.

Classic pattern forums are still largely build forums.
If they are not under build forum I don't see them.

The way my viewing time is allocated it would be nice to be able to find the builds in one place, that is the point of a build section is it not. I'm not one for searching an entire site to find a build, they should be in the same area. Currently the build section is over run with assemblies but one don't know by the title it is an assembly without venturing in. It is just a little aggravating to click on an interesting airframe just to see an ARF and all it's components laid out ready to go. Nothing against ARF's, I have a few myself.

this is a difficult issue for me both as a modeler that loves to build and as a guy that hosts a site that includes a lot of assembly threads. we try to encourage everyone to show their projects, regardless of what they are, so that the people that think they can't do it will see it's easier than they realize. obviously the actual kit/plans/scratch builds are a higher order of complexity but there's a lot that goes into a really nice ARF assembly also. so it's my job to recognize the efforts of everyone here and to encourage everyone else to at least take a look, learn what they can, and to give it a try themselves at some point.

i put a lot of thought into every single detail of the site. me personally, i think about everything, sometimes constantly and so i appreciate the feedback like what is happening in this thread.

the problem is though, if i were to break off the kit/plans/scratch builds and put them into another section of the site then each of the separate sections becomes less busy and therefore less interesting. i suppose I could break out kit/plans/scratch builds into a separate sub-forum within the Building Boards area of the site but even though I could I don't know if it would be optimum for the site. let me think about it.

also in the build theme i love to see resurrection builds where crashed or really old planes are deconstructed and then rebuilt and made flyable again......just sayin' @Tseres :)

Just so you know, any section of the site that allows for a Prefix to be selected to go along with the thread title (in the Builds area there is a Prefix (Scale, 3D, IMAC, etc) before each thread title), you can click the prefix that you prefer and it will list all of the threads that have that prefix. Click the Scale prefix and all of the Scale builds will be sorted from the rest of the threads. Same thing in the classifieds and elsewhere.

Hope that helps.
