Hellcat all hung up in my shop with the new face, going to hang it in my buddies LHS probably this week.

The TBM is coming together. Pretty much just down to electronics. A little disappointed that the recommended SV1250MG servos, I had to enlarge the servo bays, noticed they get close to the wingtube, and actually put a little dent in the plastic tube. When I enlarged the bay I went aft - away from the tube and they still bump into the tube a bit. Hmmm.... May flip the servo 180deg to get the wire away from the tube and make new linkages.

Got some MPX connectors from TDRC and made a ply insert. Looks pretty clean and am looking forward to the simplicity of just two connectors. Might do one black and one red to make it even simpler.

Now I’m just waiting on my new transmitter to show up... ordered it from my buddies LHS and GP decided to ship it parcel post..... for Alaska that is at least two weeks, so hopefully this week it will show up. Decided to get the Futaba 18SZ instead of the 16SZ because of the LiFe battery, and integrated charger, a little better ergonomics too. Plus I got a little price break thanks to my friend. Really excited to finally do a crow feature on an airplane and misc mixes. That will make flying the TBM a lot of extra fun! It’s been about 7 years since my last Tx upgrade! Super excited about having telemetry and a touch screen, hopefully it works in the cold temps.

Just a question if it is going to be hung up in the LHS why do you not remove the gear and just cover the openings. Nice looking plane why is it being hung up bad flyer.

Lots of updates. Mojo 25 done and flown (quite a bit actually). It has a lot of coupling in knife edge. Also needed down and right thrust added to it. The SKF 3536 is way overpowered for this but is fun to fly. I think if I could get the wing loading down, it would help considerably. Fun none-the-less. Compared to the Mojo 65, there is no comparison, but hard to ask a lot of a 36” ws profile with a high wing loading.

Got the EF 60” landing gear support replaced. Good as new and went flying for lunch today. Glad to have knocked out another project.

The last pic is sometimes work my son and I have accomplished tearing his 66 mustang apart.

Don’t feel like putting that much effort into it.
Tried to sell it for the last couple years, nobody wanted it, so I decided to take the engine out, make a dummy spinner, paint a shark mouth, and inspire some kids. My buddy doesn’t have a real war bird hanging in his shop either. If someone wanted to buy it he can...
The hellcat has to fly with rudder, you cannot bank and yank without incorporating rudder. It will climb/pitch up. The plane was getting to complicated for me and retracts. I have a limited time to fly my planes, and setting up this one was just taking up too much of my time... flight time is precious, and I don’t like to have many hangar queens.

I had a couple of war birds they are just work and the landing gear even when it is wheel done still needs work every now and then. But I am taking about 120 size. I do believe if you are in the 1/4 scale and up or above 100 inch wing span they are great. Seen a bunch of big wat birds at JoeNall and they seem to fly much better with less maintenance

I like 'em "BIG"!
Finally had a few minutes after work to start removing the tape on my Yak Canopy. The directions on the canopy glue bottle states a full cure in 24 hours. I figure since it has been 48, I should be good to go. Wow... two big balls of tape removed from the canopy to hold it in place. But I'm glad I went to the extent that I did. The canopy is "WELL" attached all the way around the entire canopy frame. Once I had the canopy hold down bolts removed, it came up with no problem. Very thankful I used wax paper as a barrier between the canopy and airframe where it sits. The wax paper peeled right off and revealed an absolute perfect seal. I am so excited. After a little minor sanding of the edges to match the canopy frame perfectly, I'll do a little clean up then prep it for paint. Which reminds me. What would you guys use to prep the frame work to insure a perfectly clean surface for the paint to adhere to? Rubbing alcohol? I've always been afraid of residue. Someone once told me a high quality window cleaner works great for prepping the surface to be painted. What do you guys think? @Jetpainter have you a suggestion?

I will be recovering the forward hatch, so not too worried about the covering that had to be peeled back. Dang, I can't believe it. The Behemoth Yak is getting close to flying again.

Thanks! Happy could bring back some good memories. I am blessed my dad is still around and is also involved in this project. My dad has been working with my younger son rebuilding a go-cart that he built when he was 12, then my brother and I had, now my boys. Absolutely ecstatic they are so into mechanical stuff now! :fist_pump:
