Today I installed the intake ram on the 140 in the Laser. Could not see if it was a perfect fit, choke closed, so had to use the trusty ole camera eye.
Won't be able to finish the Eagle gear until some PETG is cut, hopefully be done and ready for pick up tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest.
Also been debating between the DLE 120 or the GP123 to replace this Valach 140, which will need be done soon as it is pretty much broke in. I had thought about throwing the Valach 120 in, a perfect fit, but this Laser is screaming to do some 3D stuff that the slightly slower throttle response of the 140 don't like or it may just be me.
GP123 is said to be more powerful than the DLE, so I guess it just depends on what you want. They say it is more powerful than a DA120, certainly not DA quality, but powerful.

The GP123 is the most powerful 120 class engine out there. Turns more RPM's with the same prop as the DA120. They are dead reliable too, it's got me thinking...

I think I'll try the GP123 then, should be ordering when NW get's them back in stock. If it last anywhere near as well as my DLE's, RCGF's, it will outlast me.

May I ask why a Da120 is not on the shopping list.
Ok looking at the pictures down the velocity stack what is aluminum ring I see with a lip at the bottom of the stack?????

I have her done now! 2 lbs 9 oz. May maiden it today. Our club is having a fun fly this weekend in which we should have 13 flying all together! Living in Texas, the chance of snow holding me back from flying isn't very good;)View attachment 105977

Looks good, well have you done the maiden flight with it. Me bad did not look at your location snow is not a problem for you. Have fun and enjoy the plane.

Why no DA, I don't know, I just don't want one. The aluminum ring that you are seeing down the stack is the carb, what look's like a lip is a reflection of the carb on the stack wall.

I have been in the shop most of the evening checking airframes that have been setting for a while, also cleaning and reorganizing a bit. And for the moment I think I will just leave the Valach on the Laser, I just love the way it flies and even more so the sound. I have an Extra and a Yak to enjoy some, trying to do, 3D with for now. There are more pressing things to do such as work on getting the Challenger finished, get started on the new Bulldog, and did I mention how the Laser sounds.

If that is just a reflection then all is good.

ZDZ 112B2RV-J Champion. What about this engine people seem to like this engine. The intake system is better than a reed system. Never seen or had the opportunity to play with one it seems very interesting.
