Discussion Onboard On/Off Switches

Seems simple enough but the very popular anodized aluminum toggle style single and dual switches are reportedly problem prone. The old reliable slide style switches are potentially limited to lower voltage systems. Pin style safety switches and .......did someone say remote??? ......switches can be pricey.

So what's what?

I'm of the old-fangled slide switch mindset.......one, two, whatever it takes.

Opinions? Links to whatever the best options are?

Used a few switches in my time the only switche that never failed me was the original JR dual pole slide switch, in my opinion the best there is. Other than that normally everything else has been JR fail safe receivers or Boomma electronic pin switch.

the JR switch with the words Heavy Duty molded into the side and that mounts on the side or with the switch pressed through the side of the plane was the only one I opened up today that had a regular name brand switch inside. the MPI one had a small no-name electronics grade switch in it and the other one was like the HD switches that Chief sells and it had a slightly larger no-name electronics grade switch in it.

I have two of the JR switches and was considering using them but then I'd also have to mount two charging jacks in the side of the plane.

The Smartfly switches are similar to the HD switches that Chief sells. Come to think of it I think Chief sells a couple of different HD switches and one of them is the Smartfly unit.

Not sure what I'm going to do. Was thinking about a dual pole aircraft grade toggle switch in a little compartment with a cover held on by magnets. Something like the 12-200 will switch both batteries at once for $7.50

I'm a little pissed to find out today that there are people complaining about those Miracle Switches. Was about to order a double with the fuel dot built in. :(

Anyone here have first hand experience with them or the Valley View version of them?

I have several of them. Never had an issue with any of mine.

I saw some google results from Redwing today, are they back in business or new owner?

self-inflicted thread drift is acceptable, by the way

Why do you need a charging jack as far as know that only worked with nicad battery. Lipo need balancing plug and power charge plug.
