Well it is all back together and ready to be tested and then flown. Just need fill and empty the tank and set the idle and then remind and we will be off to the field when the weather lets me. Must say did not think I could but after the rebuild the plane is 3 oz lighter so all my hard work has payed off just from the start watched the weight changed things and were ever I could reduced the weight. The weight of the plane when first build was 8 lbs 10 oz. then the plane was rebuilt for various reasons and it was 7 lbs 7oz . Now after a small incident whacked the nose of and damaged a few other parts it has been rebuilt and now weighs 7 lbs 4oz

Playing with the super otter. Fitting my balsa cowl and trying to figure out how to cool this motor while keeping the scale lines. Might just add a couple vents and a lower opening with a little air dam in front of it. This isn’t a 3D bird, so I don’t think it’s going to overheat except that there is a lot of stagnant air.

I would use the electric motor spinners that have the cooling slots in them to pull air in Fromm the front.

Did the final set of the engine and gas tank all is ready for the maiden flight. See how different it will be went from 480 oz servos to 155 oz on all the surfaces. Moved the CG 1 1/2 back. New gas tank down to 14 oz. and did not have a spare 17-6 so installed a 16-8. And the plane is a little lighter. Also changed the battery from LiPo to A123 for the new servos installed. Should prove interesting.

Damn I'm hungry
Have you ever put one on a gas motor. I think it will work well or am I just crazy.

No not a gasser. But I guess it would depend on if you needed cooling from there for scale reasons :do_not_know: ? There would be a need for a cooling shroud of some sort like heli's have . Maybe you are " Loco La Cabeza" :spongebob:. hehehe

Hmmm well if you guys remember I got a bunch of balsa and some kits for five bills. They told me a few weeks later to take what else I can other wise it’s going to the dump.... so a grabbed a bunch. My buddy at the LHS took most of those from me. I had set some nice kits aside so they could try and sell them and get some cash... sorta saw this coming - turns out they don’t have time and told me to just pick them up. I literally have someone else’s lifetime collection of models. I’m going to start listing the ones I don’t think I’ll ever want to build. Probably on RCG, but if you guys see something you are dying to have let me know. It’s going to take a while to inventory all of this. I’m probably going to keep a third of it and a few donated to some people here in the club. Hopefully I don’t let you guys down dangling the carrot with some planes that I’m going to keep. But it’s too crazy not to share.

If you decide to part with the Ben Buckle Great News, I would love first dibs. :way_to_go:

I want a 4 Star 40 someday, perfect low wing starter plane for one of my sons. I built and flew 2 in the 80s/90s and logged 100s upon 100s of flights on them.
