My workshop this Saturday, was the flying field. We installed our new Geotex North South runway. It's 450' x 45' and tees into the existing East West runway we did about 6 or so years ago. Out of our 100 or so members, we had 27 people show up to help. I voted for this runway, even though it will ruin the near private runway my buddy Tony and I have had for years on Sundays. But, it's going to be great for the club in the long run.

Here are some pics of the process.

These are the staplers I made when we did the East West runway. The new runway took nearly 4000 12' staples.o_O

The guy in the black jacket smoking the cigar walking with a stapler is Ryan Mowery. Ryan is a BAD A$$ pilot and super guy. between him and Bill, the guy in gray putting a staple in, I'll bet the the pair put in over 2000 of the near 4000 staples that day. We had teams of staplers, one guy loading and one putting them in. I loaded staples for Ryan part of the day.

Staples every 6". The Geotex shrinks after being in the sun and will pull out the wrinkles.

We even installed some radiused corners. Not only do the corners look good, but it makes mowing easier.

Awesome.

I can't even imagine that much room to fly. I have had trees and hills to deal with everywhere I've flown.

Looks like your getting her done! Glad to see your using the doors and deck lid to check the fit. As common sense as that sounds, you wouldn't believe how many people hang quarters with out the doors on and then don't understand why the gaps are so bad.:ugh!:

Don't be afraid to hack, slash, and beat aftermarket sheet metal into submission. It's a rare thing indeed to have one go right on without some "modification".;)
Thanks Doug! Would you have time available in the near future to talk paint?
