No, the hand filing is behind me but never again. I like the mill. The overall steel framework is MUCH more rigid than wood dowels so some (in my opinion) non structural pieces can remain original wooden dowel design.

Lots of 1/3 scale project discussions tonight, might as well add something about mine.

Trying to get some sense of scale as I build the cabin so I ordered 1/3 scale instruments from I fly tallies. They were out of Cub instruments so I just ordered the next closest.

Not perfect but neither is my build.

I had a set of those once, didn't look right just flush gluing to the dash panel so I thought I could chuck them up in the lathe and remove the back flange, first one when well, the rest went south! You have the hole in the plywood so you can drill holes in the dash panel and insert the gauges from the rear, will look great. The I Fly Tallies gauges really do look great. They were trying to sell the business when I got my gauges a couples months ago.
Thinking about checking out these guys for my panel http://www.sacmidwest.com/products.php#custom_panels

While not the best photo this dash looks really nice, from an uncompleted build from too long ago. As I started building more scale like planes I realized the dash really didn't fit the plane, a Cub or Super Cub just needs 5 gauges to look great. Can't find any information about the company that made it and I assume I found this in High Flight magazine. Really do miss IMAA fly ins.

Nice job on both panels Gentlemen!

These days the full scale panels are nuts! Attached are photos of two such panels and their associated Super Cubs taken at AirVenture in 2018.
IMHO these are way too much for a Cub, but to each his, or her, own.
