Anybody interested in a P-47 Build?

The actual P-47 elevator has a curve to it. I blew up a scale drawing and cut and glued to match.

Now I put blocks on the stab and elevator tips and the insides of the elevator. I use the planer to get these close to shape then sand.

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

Yep same as me. It's pretty good to me but man paying $14 for a six pack just doesn't seem right. Actually most sixers are pretty expensive now. I like to try different things but when a six pack is $9-10 or a twelver is $14 it's hard to justify a 6 pack. I'm in CA so maybe that's a thing here.

I would definitely say its a fun beer. I love grapefruit so maybe that has swayed me. How much did you pay? Robert

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

I like it but because of the price you have to pay (I paid $13+ for a sixer) not sure it's worth it? I have bought it twice though so not sure what that says about me :) Robert

Glued the elevator leading edge to the stab with a couple drops of CA. This will be removed later. One of my favorite tools the razor plane was used to level it out. Then the elevators were glued to that with Titebond.

A photo with the extra balsa added for the center section. Looks like I just tossed pins on it! Feel better about it now. Skinned the bottom so now it's fully sheeted.

Made the rudder skins from the plan. Had to sand the trailing edge of them at an angle so they can be glued together. Glued on the skins. Once dry flipped it over and added some wood to hold the hinge points. Beefed up certain areas for later.

So the center section of the stab had ply sheeting. For some reason kits are harder for me to follow and I messed up by gluing the center sheeting not level with the ribs. No biggie just added another thin piece and sanded it out. Sheeted one side of the stab too.

Anybody interested in a P-47 Build?

Ok. I've actually started this almost a year ago and took a break for quite a few months but I'm back on it now. I'm hoping to get it done by next May for a warbird event. The plane will be based on the 56th Fighter Group 62nd Squadron Maximum Goose flown by William Gordon. Engine will be a...
