    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

This may sound strange but watching the way Gabby and others fly 100cc I would want two on each of those stabs but on a 40% I don't fly fast enough or see many fly fast enough with it to really matter I don't think.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Terry, Very nice1 Do you design the thrust into the build or use stand off for the thrust.

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

:dancing-chicken: I thought those were your painted nails for minute LOL. Yeah the dubro is the way to go. I've had a couple of those China recycled plastic ball links get sloppy on the ball fast. Looks cool Joe!

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

I commend you on the effort and the precision of your experience. If I was flying IMAC I would do exactly what you are doing. This plane will never fly good IMAC IMHO. It is designed for old school 3D. Low and slow floater. Get all the max throw you can on everything. Tony told me that what he...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

I always say if you want to take a nap just go watch an IMAC flight. This stuff is all good and precise but it's just like IMAC to me. I applaud the work but way over thinking it for me. I just use SWB 2" arms on everything and go. The way I throw my sticks around not sure it would change...

    ZDZ180B2-J champion

It hovers at almost idle :dancing-chicken: I am going to do some experimenting with props after it gets broke in but on that flight I had the 3W 3D prop. It seems to like it.

@poprlite Then you will have this power. This was the third flight on the plane and motor so its still running rich. Plane weighed 46.8lbs See post #93 http://giantscalenews.com/threads/big-ailerons.3711/page-10 You'll love it:)

That is a really nice way to set it up, I like it. @poprlite I can tell you the ZDZ 180 pulls my 46lb plane around like it's a foamy.

I almost forgot to show you this. I have not had it happen to me but a friend who does a lot of pop tops had the rear turtle deck start to bend and by installing this it stops it from happening.

Never thought about that. Might be a great idea. You got me thinking about all that weight now! Hmmm.

    Definitely:way_to_go: Kill that weight.

Dang, I can't believe I cannot find any. All I do though is cut out the bottom of the rudder and fit a piece of hardwood in and epoxy it good. The hard part is cutting the slots for the control horns. carful dremel work.

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Yeah, they don't skimp on the rudder :mario-banana: I add hard wood to the bottom of the rudder for the control horns on push/pull.

Nice work Chris!! I like that they are threaded.

I will be enough. It just won't have a quick pull out is all. Many guys fly a 170 on them.

That is some good info, right there! Okay, my favorite saying is "a word to the wise is sufficient." So, I won't run the tires! haha Toss the balljoints, too, huh? Okay, I'll replace them with DUBROs. I've had some offbrand ball links snap in two, but never a DUBRO. Was looking forward to not...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

After building 7 of this same plane and about another bunches of Pilot planes here is what my experience is; The wheels make good book ends, Tailwheel is a great back stored in the trailer, the ball joints are fine on 50cc or smaller but the recycled plastic starts to wear on the ball and...

    3D Big Ailerons

The design won't make it roll that much faster. It really is designed for low and slow with a ton of aileron and rudder authority at a slow speed. With the ailerons this big they can act like breaks at high speed. This plane is not a high energy aerobatic plane. It's more for old school 3D on...

    3D Big Ailerons

I always felt the same about ZDZ :very_angry: It seemed like they were always working on them. This new generation is a complete different animal. It is so reliable which is VERY important to me because I am not an engine guy. I hate working on them or trying to figure out why they won't run. I...
