Yeah, or else we can rule that one out.

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Didn't get much done tonight (things are looking sketch for a weekend maiden). I started by gluing in the firewall. I used Zap 30 minute epoxy. I've always used Zap. What do you guys use? I guess Bob Smith is good, too, yeah? I got this at microfasteners.com in the big bottles. I've always used...

Not you, man, I figure you'd move the stab tubes in five minutes while eating a sandwich. :way_to_go:

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

I was thinking about getting the Pilot 100cc Yak54 next. I wonder if it is as light as the Pilot 100cc Edge? And/or which one is the better plane...

So, you're saying your Pilot RC Edge is 2-lbs lighter than your PAU plane (is it an Edge, too?)?

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Really? Damn. I don't mind a one piece cowl other than it makes doing really great baffling a lot more challenging.

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Pilot RC actually recommends a pretty big gap... up to 1/2" they show. I didn't like the sound of that so I went 1/8"... on my Carden's I would go 1/16"... but sometimes they would rub a little. Yes, the plan is RE3's... that could hold me up a bit, we'll see, hopefully I'll look into...

Hi David! I remember hearing that about them years ago, too. This is my first. It doesn't have a two piece cowl or some of the other features of the AW yak, but the quality of the wood, covering, design, and workmanship look as good as any ARF I've seen. I haven't run into any trouble on it yet...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

I trial fitted the motor without gluing in the firewall: The Pilot manual said to space out the engine 1/4"-1/2", but I went with an 1/8" for looks. :sneaky: Also, I wanted to make mention of the material used for the firewall. It's much harder and has many more layers than either the H9...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Okay... where were we? :confused??: I marked the center line of the aluminum bracket and spaced out my machine screws 1/4" offset from the machine screws on the firewall so I could easily get a wrench in there to tighten up the locknuts. I've been asked why I use a lot of stainless steel...

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Okay... I got out in the garage for a couple of hours tonight. :gnashing: I decided I didn't want any spacers off the firewall (like on the H9 Sukhoi) so I measured 1/2" in on the motorbox sides and bottom and marked that: Then I lined up the firewall there and bolted it on. I used my fancy...

Good ol' Sean. I've always had good luck with the stock 3W ignitions, back in the day, and on my new 170CS. I hear about people using other brand ignitions on them and liking those ignitions better than the stock ignitions (even using DA ignitions on them), but I don't know the first thing about...

I don't have a pilot for this plane yet. I was just on the roof doing some electrical and found this doll head... looks like a great pilot, doesn't it? What do you guys think? haha

Hey Stang, how's the ground handling off that direct drive spring? Are you on a paved runway or grass?

    Pilot RC 122" Extra 330SC

Hi Ben! For some reason I haven't. I've known about them all along, and could have tried one easy enough. OTOH, I always wanted to fly a 212, and now I want to fly a DA-200. I want to try a ZDZ-180, too. But, I never got an itch to try a spin spark. All I know about them is what I've read, which...
