Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

I was going to post there but their file size is a real pain. I need to resize all my photos to post there. Thank you for your comment though. Got the vertical fin on and the remaining windows and door laid out. Used fast cure West Systems epoxy so hopefully later to day I can fill the joint...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Used a template made from the plans and several photos to lay out the windows and doorway. Then the window for the door was masked off and the adjacent area was primed. Weather forecast for Saturday is 55 f, hope to get the final coats of primer on.

Completed wet sanding with 220, just a few spots need filler, the final primer coats will take care of the other low spots. Laying out for the windows and vertical fin. The windows will be cast into the plug along with the right side door. With this in mind, these areas will be masked off...

Dash looks great. I think their pricing is reasonable for the effort one can put into a dash.

My opinion is that they are good for wet sanding and dry sanding fiberglass. I used the 1/2 sheet dry on wing skins and they turned out wavy. It's really hard to beat the hard sanding bars we have for balsa.

Yes, that is ideal. Here's a quick patch this morning, you can see the low spots in the middle of the area and the black line in the upper left side where the cloth overlapped. More sanding and they both disappear On the large areas I'm using 1/2 sheet size Durabloc with 220 wet paper. So...

Put on four coats of primer plus the guide coat. Will wet sand in a day or two. 95% may have been a little optimistic!

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Block sanded the fuselage this morning with Durablocks and 220 dry paper. I'm thinking it is about 95% at the point. Most of the areas where the glass cloth overlapped are gone. A couple of low areas still exist that should be filled with the primer. I'll hit those first before priming the...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

The weather was great today in the Burg. Sprayed three coats of primer on the fuselage today. Have a lot of work to do! No need for guide coat, flaws are visible at this point. If all goes well I will block sand and put more primer on tomorrow.

Added the white position light mount to the rudder, it is a piece of 1/2"dowel. Also added the beacon mount on the vertical fin, short piece of 3/4" dowel then filled in with SuperFil. Working to get the corrugation cleaned up before the parts are separated, much easier to work with one large...
