12S power systems ideas and options

Aeroplayin was getting about 20lbs of thrust with the 4330-198 and a 21x10 and nearly 22lbs with a 22x8. If you think it's too light hacker A60-8M with a 21x10 or 22x10 Mej EL would be my next option. Personally I try to stay away from scorpion in anything other then helis, but I guess they are catering to planes too now.

We have discussed the two scorpions in this size. Lucien has told us that they might not hold up to 3D abuse. The 5335 weight is probably without mount and such so it will be close enough to the Motrolfly to look weak. I am interested in the 5325 of theirs maybe for a EF 74" e-laser when it comes available.

I'd also bet that the Scorpion 5535-190 is comparable to the DM5335 in weight once all the motor and prop mounting hardware are compared, and connectors soldered on. Even at 856g, we're talking about 3 ounces more with the DM5335, and about another 900 Watts with a 22x10, which will pull almost 32 pounds on the 195Kv. This was all on Matt's motor when I tested it. It ran the 22x10 up to between 7400 and 7470 RPMs on about 105A (4650W). Since the MXS can come in at about 14.85 pounds with the motor, that 's just silly sick power at 313 Watts per pound and 2.15 to 1 thrust to weight.

The only question is about the 9+ cube loading and how you like it when you're low and slow. I still have not seen someone float around right off the deck with this setup at almost 15 pounds like we saw with the 78" Extra 300 at under 14 pounds with 3700W. A lot of big sky stuff, but no one doing slow inverted and rolling harriers a foot or two off the deck, like Tom did with the 13.6 pound 78 Extra with the A60-16M.

Do you have an idea on the model weight? It looks like 17 pounds is about the sweet spot for this motor to get 3D type power to weight. My 5335-195 is on a EF MXS that is 14.5 pounds, but it does not have the wing area you will have. Just updated it to a Mezon 130.

Which event? Owatanna? Heading to SEFF myself and MAYBE e-week at triple tree.

Aerobeez specs the fly weight on their site as 15.5-16.4lbs. Hopefully I can try to keep it on the lower side. I'll be going to Watts over Owatonna as its not too far from home.

If my 50CC EF Yak ever goes in I'll be replacing it with an Aerobeez 89" Extra since it's purpose built for electric. I got a Hacker A60-18L and a Hacker Master Spin 99 ESC in the Yak on 12s2p 5000 packs. Flies with plenty of authority but wish it had a bit more power.

Do you know how many watts your setup is putting out?

What prop are you using on the A60-18L? I almost bought one to try a 14S 4000mAh setup because it should do 3550W with the 22x10 Xoar at only 68.5A. I can probably save more weight going to an Ice2 HV80 and my 22x10 Xoar only weighs 79g. The problem is that my A60-16M Kv was way off from what the labeled 215 was saying that the 22x10 on 10S was just too much for it to handle. Had a lot of timing issues. The L series should easily handle it tho. If you can tell me the cell count, prop, and RPMs, I can probably tell if it's worthwhile to try it.
