91" Extra 300-EXP ARF

Maidened the 91" baby today.

What a charmer.

Flys basically like the big brother to the 60" extra just as I thought.

Super smooth in the air, rollers, rolling loops and circles a treat.

I thought I'd be tail heavy with my setup, but in the air she is still a little heavy towards the nose.

Will move the batts back an inch next time out.

Have the 32oz tank on her and get 15 minutes hammering, still got fuel left.

Basically had to keep landing to free up some head space, 15 minutes is a long time to hammer a 3D plane.

Video to come after the weekend.

Question for you gas gurus out there.

I had a bit of fuel splash along the fuse, basically from where my vent line pokes out and splashed back from there. Is this normal on a gas plane to get a bit of oily fuel from the vent line?

Roger do you have a pic of your vent setup? With an appropriate vent loop on top of the tank it should reduce the chance of fuel making its way out. Did it happen in the air or during fueling on the ground?

I would think as long as you wipe it down afterwards you'd be fine. Most of the guys who fly with smoke will seal the gaps in the ultracote to make sure the smoke oil doesn't debond the ultracote especially where the colors transition or soak the wood. You can use clear nail polish. If you are really worried maybe go that route or wait for others to chime in on how frequent you should see gas from the vent and what to do. I'm on my first gasser so what I know is mostly from others.

Great looking plane!

Josh,
here's a couple of pics I took this morning showing the vent line set up. IMG_0606.jpgIMG_0608.jpg

The fuel spray wasn't a real large amount, just surprised compared to electric setups.

The plug is only for transporting, to try and minimize fuel smell in the car!

I, of course, remove the plug for flying!!! Lol....

Got me another 4 tanks through the 91" today, what a blast.

Took the sfg's off for a couple of flights and she is one sweet bird drawing lines.

Snaps are ultra crisp with them off as well.
