Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Got a little work done on the Edge tonight. I forgot that I had done stuff to the wheel pants and instead worked on the throttle servo mount. I used some 3/16" lite ply and used the top of an old servo (the one that went bad in the Slick actually) to get the dimensions for the hole and to see how everything would line up. I cut out the hole with a scroll saw and then cut some pieces of lite ply to hold it up. In one, I cut a slot for the servo wires and I might need to enlarge it. I also need to cut some 45 degree edges on the base of one side so that it can fit around the 1/4" tristock used to reinforce the motor box.

Little bit of progress from last night. I got the throttle servo mount glued in and cut some pieces of lite ply for choke bellcrank. After that, I put the new servo case on my throttle servo.

I have the choke pushrod almost set up. I need to get some more 4-40 nuts to help hold the carbon rod that will go over the 4-40 all thread, which will also have JB Weld.

The box has enough space to get an open ended wrench in so I can remove the bolt in the bellcrank if needed.

Kinda seems a little complex can you not just run a choke out front? And I cant see where adding carbon and jb weld will do any thing other than add weight there is no need to add any strength to 440 for a choke but thats just how i would do it and don't mean its correct.

I've never had a plane where a choke servo installation is easy. Always something in the way or a bad angle.
 
Got a little more done on the Edge today. I got the throttle pushrod done and finally glued on the carbon rod sleeves to the all-thread. I'll glue in the box that hold the bellcrank for the choke tomorrow.

Lock nuts are on the engine mounting bolts so I don't foresee removing the engine anymore.

I got the mount for the choke bellcrank glued and the ignition module and regulator mounted.

I worked making some mounts for the receiver and batteries and on the fuel system today.

I used 1/16" lite ply with 1/8x3/8" basswood to hold the plates up a little bit so that I can put a strap underneath it. I haven't glued in the plates for the receiver batteries or the regulator because I will use those to balance the plane.

The little bit of gas in my fuel tank had turned black since I last flew my Slick when I had it. Because of this, I decided to go over to SEF from VP so I picked up a gallon today. I will continue to use the Redline Racing oil so I will mix the fuel myself. We will see how long this will last compared to pump gas.

I also got the fuel dot installed. I was looking trying to figure out what to install next in the motorbox and couldn't find anything so I glued on the motorbox top.
