IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

ROLLERMAN

So I have been slowly working on the wings socket supports and top and bottom spars, since I’m using Gorilla glue I had to get a bit creative on how to glue in the socket supports. The instructions tell you to glue the socket and the support at the same time and then later to cut the socket support so that the spar can slide down on the slots that are cut on the foam. The issue here is the glue, since it expands so much I would not have been able to slide the spars down on top of the wing tube socket. So what I did was to glue in the socket support with epoxy and used the wing tube socket to keep it in place and I used some scrap foam to press against it. Now it was just a matter of cutting the slot for the spar, gluing the socket and the spars at the same time.
I probably didn’t have to do this but I glued in some scrap foam to fill in the void to give me peace of mind.

More pictures of the wing spar, before and after cutting it. I also started marking the ailerons so I know where to install the servo boxes. Kevin at Jtec hooked me up with some great servo boxes.
Thanks Jerry for the design and Kevin and Al for cutting them for me, fast delivery, these guys are great to work with. I will be ordering the rest soon.

Primo, could you elaborate a little on the Canister mounts? What did you use to cut the composite material? Can you give us a technical description on the high temp. rubber? Maybe a MacMaster Carr # if you know it.
Great looking build.

OK. I'll put some more info on that. Here are the pictures of the stabs marked and the servo box location. On the stabs I will have to adjust the height of the box. I used a dremel to cut the foam out. I like this better than the ones I used on the 118, I like that I have a frame wich will be glued deep in the foam. The first few pics are from the 118 I built a few years back and the new ones.
