IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Well I have to be honest, after building the 118 I didn’t think I would build another one, but then about a two years ago I made a HUGE mistake, actually three of them, I flew a Carden Pro with a 150, one with a 170 and one with a DA200. I just knew I would own one someday. (OH and one with a DLE 222). So, I went for it again and I’m glad I did. One MUST have patience when building and I have learned a great deal working on it. Skill level can be argue, just as with anything else but, if you have built kits before you already have the skills to build one of this. I think the size is the intimidating part of it. Are there other easier kits to build? And the answer to that is yes. The guys at J-tec have an interlocking set up for their frames, same with Dalton kits; they go together fast and straight. After the frames are built the rest is very similar, sheeting foam, shaping LE, TE, gluing sockets in the foam. The best part is you can always find help; ask lots and lots and lots of questions (right Ty?) LOL. As of right now I have about 230 hours on it since I got the kit. I would suggest starting out with a 50cc kit with foam core wings but I’m not sure if there are any available.
So here is where I am so far. I got the stabs sheeted this past weekend; I cut out the root end cap out of 1/8 inch aircraft ply using a template. I also cut out the stabs LE and elevator TE from the 3/8 stock that comes with the kit.

I got it from a guy in CA, his name is Dave Dixon. He did a thread on a PRO on FG. I contacted him and he sent it to me.

It’s looking like a plane now, I have both stabs ready, once I have the wings done, and I’ll set the incidence on all feathers at the same time. First a few pictures of the stabs end caps. I used gorilla glue to glue them in place.

So now on the wings, first, mark the ailerons and locate the hinge line. My next step was to locate where I’m going to cut out the foam for the servo boxes. I located on the box where the center of the arm will be coming out as well as the offset and I transfer that to the foam. The picture will explain this much better. I hope to be vacuum bagging the wings this weekend.

One step closer, I was able to get one wing sheeted, but before that, I located the servo doors and cut the foam out as well as the servo wire slot. The other thing to make sure before sheeting is to check the root end against the fuse; I didn’t have to do any sanding.
