Futaba R7018SB Receiver

Yes, it uses a separate switch that is not in the power feed. This picture shows the switch that comes with it. Not my photo, something I found in cyberspace.

Will a pin and flag switch work not really a fan of the slide type

If it works like most of these type receivers, when the switch is open the RX is on, and when Pin 1-3 are connected the RX is off. So if the pin switch works this way then it should work. If the pin switch grounds different wires, then a bit of soldering should make it work.

Hay Joe!
I second Dans' response, just use common sense on your install, do your proper range check and never look back. This new stuff from Futaba is the awesome and bullet proof. Good to see you back in the saddle. By the way, where's all the hot chicks?

Hi Scott! The R7008SB has been rock solid on the bench... but I was paranoid so I got an R6014HS. Well? I unplugged the R7008SB, I linked the R6014HS to my 14SG and also set the 6014 to HS. I plugged it into the plane and the sticks didn't move the servos. I turned the RX switch off and on and then the sticks moved the servos. After a few seconds I was moving some wires around and glitch city, then a few seconds later some random glitches... then solid. I was moving the same wires around the same way with the R7008SB. Now I want to run the 7008SB. haha

Very curious. What wires were you moving? Also, what servos are you using? One other thing, the HS mode really does not gain any perceptible advantage for airplanes. It was designed for in your face 3D heli flying. The lower latency does not make you system faster per se. What is does is lets the servo achieve full holding torque faster. Which is important in the extreme heli flying and not so much in airplanes.

Problem solved... I had made up extensions for the plane direct solder with Dean's 1003 ends out of Hitec Heavy Duty bulk wire. It's only 24 gage and the three wires are flat. Once in the plane it glitched all the time... directly through a 7008sb, directly through a 6014hs, and with both through a Smart-Fly EQ-10. I finally tried making up new extensions with 22 gage wire with the three wires twisted. Again direct soldered and Dean's ends. That fixed it with either RX on the Smart-Fly. I have not tried it directly though either RX with the heavier gage wire but I imagine it would be fine. I'm just spent so much time on it already, you know? haha You can check this all out in videos and pictures here:
