I work for a company called Sanmina. We're an electronics manufacturing company with production plants all over the world. I manage the services business for the company in North/South America, but we'll travel to our other global facilities from time to time. We get to see great places like Budapest, and not so great places like Juarez, Mexico. Gotta take the good with the not so good!

I've never seen any problems there, but it does make you pay attention to all the stories. There have been times when the company will restrict travel to that area to only "necessary" trips, but that makes me really wonder why someone would go there if it wasn't necessary.

When I was with Motorola, they had a policy that when you flew into Bogota, Colombia you had to take the trip from the airport to your hotel in an armored limo. It was sort of nice to have that experience, but it REALLY made you nervous about why the company would spend that kind of money on a cab ride!

And for you Jersey Boys, I lived in Cherry Hill for a couple of years, back in the late 80's... really a nice part of New Jersey. It was a short drive to some not so nice parts!

OK.. given the choice between Colombia and Iraq, I guess I might pick Colombia. But I to hold people in high regard who decide to take the other flight. Were you there as a civilian or military?

Just protecting their ass-sets...seriously it would make me nervous as hell to have to go into an uncivil environment knowing I was a potential target for anti Americans..all these journalist that travel in countries to provide first hand coverage must get paid extremely well to risk their lives and liberty..
