Here is my 2nd flight on the Goblin 500. The first flight was just doing some quick Vbar tuning. Some far it flys great, it sounds like I will have to adjust the gain on the governor and do some more Vbar tweaking; but other than that I am already amazed by this helicopter.

It feels like it is on rails!

Nice flying Anthony! Ok...second flight? really?! I can't wait to see what you do on your 10th flight! :)
That heli sounds like a mosquito on crack, and flies like it too! ;)
Looking really good!

Yup, it REALLY grabs the plane if you snag the main gear on a low pass..... Ask me how I know.

I know this to be true; I've done it....doing a low pass and there is a ridge of weeds on the edge of the runway; get too low in the summer when the weeds are high and bam, those weeds reach out and grab your landing gear right off the plane...resulted in a quick belly landing with the gear still hung up in the weeds. :)

 How do you know, and is there video?

The camera wasn't along that day. It was a WOT downline, pulled up a fraction too late. It was a hayfield that hasn't been mowed, and a few of the strands grabbed it and yanked it straight down. It was a beautiful spray of orange Buck and a Half. Lol

Anthony that just "taint right"! Unbelievable flying! The other thing is that field, REALLY! Is that a paved strip with plenty of run in and run out, a covered shelter with table space AND charging stations? REALLY! Super nice field.

Thanks, it isn't paved though. Only underneath the building and the area to the left of the building is paved. We usually keep the really short though. Yes it has a charging station running the length of that table with a 240amp power supply hooked up and another enclosed building.

Whoa!?!?! Maybe a bad pack? How did the other one do?

I was really pulling this one hard. 100mph hurricane maneuvers will really test out your batteries. If I did my calculations right, the pack should've bursted at 120amps(30*4000=120,000), but I couldn't have been pulling that many because my ESC is only rated for 90max and in normal flight I am pulling about 60amps.

I just know that I think I am going to just get some better batteries, obviously these weren't up for the challenge. I am just really lucky the battery just smoked and didn't catch on fire, if it would've my Goblin 500 would be destroyed.

Everything seems fine on the Goblin 500, before I left the field I put another battery in it and flew it around some. Just took apart the motor and cleaned off the helicopter some. That was scary:scaredchair:

That's not the proper way to add smoke to your flight:veryshocked:

Anthony, forgive me for saying this, but just because your ESC is "only rated for 90" amps doesn't mean that some magic switch is flipped at 90 and it goes no further. I flew a 70a ESC at 90a in the MXS for one flight and it did fine. An ESC's amp rating is partially about cooling ability. Also, with Castle specifically, I think I've read that they slightly under-rate their ESC's.
Now, if you fly with a logger and it says you didn't go about 90a, I'd believe that.

Either way, what is most important, is that your amazing new heli is safe on the ground, good job getting her down quickly and without further incident.
