Anthony, forgive me for saying this, but just because your ESC is "only rated for 90" amps doesn't mean that some magic switch is flipped at 90 and it goes no further. I flew a 70a ESC at 90a in the MXS for one flight and it did fine. An ESC's amp rating is partially about cooling ability. Also, with Castle specifically, I think I've read that they slightly under-rate their ESC's.
Now, if you fly with a logger and it says you didn't go about 90a, I'd believe that.

Either way, what is most important, is that your amazing new heli is safe on the ground, good job getting her down quickly and without further incident.

Thanks. Even if I was above 90amps, it wasn't for long because the esc wasn't warm at all. While the battery, as you can see, was quite hot. I understand the esc can handle more than 90amps, but on average my amperage is about 60amps.

Either way I need some higher C batteries :)

I've data logged a castle hydra 240 at 345amps for 6secs with no problems they copped a bad rap with the ice1. The ice 2 and talons rock

Before you go shopping, I'd contact Dale and see what he thinks. He sells a lot of batteries to Heli guys, I'd think we'd know if the glaciers couldn't handle their advertised C rating.
You may have just got a bad pack...

I just managed to turn a 6S 3300 into a 3S pack. After reading all of this, I was going to check out some settings (and see if mine had datalogging- it doesn't) in my heli's esc, and on the HV esc, you have to plug a main pack in. I usually just plug one pole from each side of the series "Y" connector into one battery, and I had it wrong. Poof, I now have welder's flash and a useless 6S battery. Dammit! LOL

Damn, that sucks! Seems like some bad juju going around. I destroyed my 58" yesterday, when I didn't do a control check prior to take off. How many times must I do this before I learn my lesson?

The flying all went well today though. I flew 3 through the heli, 2 through the Velox. I flew at my old high school's football field, and couldn't resist doing a few KE passes through the goalposts. :D

Snowed most of the day today. I did not get to maiden my slick. Lol. I wanted to so bad though. Maybe Tuesday is next weather chance here.

Giving me a chance to get the next build ready. Decided to do something completely different and learn a bit at the same time. I am going to convert a http://www.guillow.com/pipersupercub95.aspx using UmX beast guts. Never did a kit build before and heck if I mess it up at least I learn some skills needed when I eventually have an incident with one of my 3dhs planes. Lol. Plans are layed out. Covered in was paper parts layed out and ready to go. Just need family to crash into bed for the night to get an hour or so to myself to get started.
