Well today I pulled the Edge out of the shop since I was feeling cramped and got to work on that nasty wrinkled covering..

Didn't get a before pic but this was after working it for about half an hour. Most of this will be covered by the wing so I'm not going to worry about it anymore.

Cut out the vent holes too. Biggest pain in the ass is cutting out the holes and keeping the covering looking NEAT...

Finally, went over the rest of the covering with the iron around the edges/trim and the heat gun LIGHTLY in the middle areas. She's ready to get a whole lot more expensive :oblong::D

I do want to paint the gear black, and will need to do something about the big mono color cowl...

I like the new scheme for the Edge. Can't find it in purple though:(.

Hey @Xpress
You may have already tried this, but if you use a soldering iron and go around the opening in the sheeting, the iron will make the hole and seal the edges at the same time.

Merry Christmas

I quite like this scheme. It's subtle enough to let you go crazy with adding your own personal touches but eye popping enough to leave it alone. I of course will be decking this out with graphics, maybe paint the cowl since it needs touching up around the seams anyways.

Me too :banana-dance:

I have used the iron before but I tried it on this covering and it looked sloppy to me, so I went with cutting it.

What do you guys do to fuel proof the covering around the edges?

Since it is 50 degrees here Michigan I thought I should finish fixing my ventique. this fall I managed a not so graceful landing that ripped the landing gear off and proceded to punch them up through both wing panels.
everything is back together and ready to fly now. Cowling did get a little dorked up though.

I've always used Balsarite for covering on all my glow planes, but I heard that clear fingernail polish works well too. Haven't had the need to use anything on a gas bird yet.

Brought in my 4 yr old Yak for a tuneup. Hitec elevator servos weren't centering so in goes a couple of MKS 777's. Modernizing my batteries, Nimh's are good for my standard 3 flights a field trip but it's time to upgrade. New arms on my aileron servos so starting fresh there as well.

Looking around for my iron and heat gun as the covering is loose. Adding Taildragger RC louvers to the cowling.
