Almost there, by noon tomorrow I should be able to break out the Pitts kit. The bench on the wall needs a new metal top, expanded it to 8' from 6' and the center bench will get castors as well as an increase in surface size from 2'x6' to 3'x8', I may just build a new one.

Decal Dennis

TEAM EP&G
Wish I could get something done in the shop, the surgery on my foot is currently keeping me from doing much. Should be back to at least being able to draw graphics on the computer in a week(fingers crossed). Then hoping in about 3.5 weeks I'll be in a walking cast.

Hey @cbarnes0061,

I'm seriously considering it, but the only problem is that I've already told myself. If I ever recovered my Laser, I would change it back to the dark blue with cub yellow stripes and stars that was on one of the full size Lasers. The thing I don't like about the idea is not that it would be too complex, the problem is that I would not be able to use the BAD ASS graphics I got from @Decal Dennis . . . . :ugh:. Come to think of it though, they would look pretty awesome on my Carden Extra. Hmmmmmm, I'm going to have to give this some more thought.

I've had a Hitec X4 80 charger for about 6 months now. I've been running it off of a 750 watt computer server power supply and just carrying them around in a gym bag. Well that grew old, about 5 months ago!

I started working on a hard sided carrying case 3-4 months ago but didn't have all the components handy, specifically XH balance adapters.

I picked up one of these (http://www.buddyrc.com/2s-10s-xh-and-thunder-power-balance-board-with-6s-xh-cable.html) a while back, and wanted to pick up 3 more for use with the X4 because they have nice long leads and would extend outside my case when settting up to charge, but they were out of stock for multiple months. (Of course when I looked up the link they're in stock now, sheesh!) So I broke down and purchased 4 of these (http://www.buddyrc.com/junsi-xh-board.html).

As it turns out, that was a stroke of luck! The dimensions of those boards are a perfect fit for the sides of the case.

The other side has the 2 remaining balance boards and the power supply I scavenged from an old PC.
battery_charger3.jpg

The 4-40 socket head screws are held tight with nylock nuts and are attached to various pieces of wood on the inside of the case. The first set of screws are the top and bottom screws in the above picture. They were attached to a scrap piece of 1/8 or maybe 3/16 lite ply that was salvaged from some plane or another and I intended to hold the two XH adapter boards in place. It turns out the lite ply wasn't firm enough to hold the adapters to my liking. So I started looking through my scrap wood and came across a strip of 3/8 ply that was 7/8" wide and almost as long as the outsides of the XH adapters. So I attached that behind the first piece of ply and that did the job!

Satisfied with the firm mounting of the XH boards I was sitting looking at the case when I had a epiphany! I mounted the power supply in the case a couple of months ago but I stopped there because I was trying to think my way through a way to securely mount the X4-80 charger in the case. Turns out that second piece of ply that I used to secure the XH boards laid the foundation for the solution. It formed a nice shoulder along that side.

So off to the table saw to rip some more 7/8" wide 3/8" ply and ring the interior accordingly. I now have a nice clean way to mount a shelf to which I can mount the X4.

Here's the results.
battery_charger4.jpg

The X4 is mounted to the plywood shelf using 3 MM socket head bolts passed through the ply and secured into the X4 in the 4 holes that previously attached the rubber feet to the bottom. The power leads for the X4-80 are plugged into a pair of 4 MM female bullets that have been flush mounted and CA'd into the plywood shelf near the top right corner of the X4-80.

Here's a shot of some 6S batteries for my EF 60" Edge plugged in and ready to charge!

On the left edge of the picture there are 2 additional sets of 4 MM bullets that can be used to run two knock-off chargers in addition to the X4-80.

Now all I need is some warm weather to go out and put this thing to work!
