Working on the pickup truck. Got my first ever rejection sticker when I went to get it inspected.
I knew it needed tires but thought it might still pass. Wrong. Needed rear brakes as well and the right front wheel bearing was bad. Pulled the front hub off at home to replace the bearing only to find it had been replaced by a previous owner. They most of lost the castle nut I instead they found another that fit and then drilled a hole through the nut and into the spindle and put a set screw in it. Well that didn't stay tight and the big nut loosened allowing play. This in effect ruined the spindle and the brake disk. Now off to the parts store to buy more stuff.

Nothing worse than having to fix other peoples bad work. One of my customers bought a freshly restored 68 Chevy II (Nova) Super Sport with it's original 375hp 396 4 speed. It looked like a beautiful car for the first few months, then it started getting blisters in the paint all over the car. When I stripped all the paint off, it was a nightmare underneath. It was a really solid, fairly rust free car, that had some really shoddy work done on it. Luckily the car is worth spending the money on to make it right, but his wallet will take a beating.View attachment 47744

No!! I did it in a well equipped shop on a '03 dodge pickup and they were an absolute bear!Yeah well I just got back from the store. Between this morning and this evening I'm in it for $220 in parts and I still have to go to a junk yard tomorrow to get a spindle as the parts stores don't carry them. Should be fun busting ball joints loose in the mud.
