The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Ok I am as cheap as the next guy but I like this one you need to explane how you do that. See a lot of sticky tape and so on but what you are left with on the plane looks goooood. Let the rest of us cheap-skates now how to do it Pleeeeeaaaaase.
Looking at your rudder hinges can you tell me hoes they are need a few of them. Please

Hey there Snoopy1, those look like Dubro Heavy Duty 1/4 scale hinges (Dubro part # 257). They come in a package of 15 hinges with cotter pins as in the attached pics. I take the cotter pins out and replace them with .047 music wire to get remove-able controls as shown in the attached photo. Just use some tape to hold the 90 degree bend in place and you're done. I like 'em "BIG"!
I have actually considered covering one of my profile planes I build with just packing tape and spray painting it. By the end of their life all the covering is being held together with packing tape anyways. Does that make me CHEAP?
:yesss:
But that's ok. No shame in being thrifty.

Running out of room in my shop. I've had a couple of the Harbor Freight bicycle lifts sitting around for a couple years but I never installed them. So a couple nights ago I broke one out and hung it up. I know a lot of guys use them with great success but I'm not really feeling it. Its a bit hokey to use and I just really don't trust it. So I'm going to rig up something different. Hopefully this weekend if I can find the time.
