Hey @WMcNabb

Do you know the story behind the pink P-40? A good friend of mine met the nice lady who used to own the pink P-40 at Oshkosh one year and he asked her about it. She told him that the color was supposed to be desert salmon, but for some reason when the plane was painted, the paint had a crazy reaction with the primer and it turned out pink. He asked her if she was going to redo the plane. She said no, it would be far too expensive to strip and paint again.

I remember the nice lady flying this P-40 years ago, and thought the color was Desert Salmon. Never heard the rest of the story. Since she painted eyelashes above the teeth, I always assumed she wanted a pink airplane.

I'm glad to hear your YS is running well. Yes, they are very powerful indeed. They will almost turn the same prop as the Saito 180. I love YS engines and have three 120AC's sitting here for future projects. OK, I better change the subject before we get the "slimer" police after us. . . . .

I'd love to see some pics of your Skybolt. . . . . :yesss:. Speaking of Skybolts, a friend of mine sent me a couple of pictures the other day of Hanno Prettner and his Skybolt at the TOC when they were held near where we live.

Plane is on a stand so that it will fit into the van without having to disassemble it. The wing span is 58 inches and it weighs 10lbs 8 oz. painted and covered with Stits paint.

Would that be the Skybolt that had the 2 Supertiger 90's geared together?

From what I can remember it was a 50cc Tarten twin on glow. And yes I remember reading about that skybolt. Never found out much about that plane and were it came from or hoes kit it was. Would not mind finding a kit or ARF for a 50 to 100 cc size.

Worked on the viper again tonight. Got both bottom sides of the stabs done.

Also a little peek at the plane put together:D
Looking good, you are picking away at it slowly. Do you thing it will be flown before winter. I just cannot get into the mood to build my Viber will be worked on it and hopefully finishing it this winter and spring.

Here's a video of it. You can hear that gear drive of his Super Tigre's, the Tartan was the choice of many others at the time though.

@Jetpainter can not find the video

Found the video and al I am going to say is "
"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my memory the most."

I'm not sure. That is kinda the goal, but the next few months are really busy so not sure if I will get it done before it gets cold.

Hey @Snoopy1,

Your Skybolt looks AWESOME ! ! ! ! Thanks for posting the pics. I bet your YS pulls that Bad Boy around very well. The largest Skybolt kit I have found is the one listed in the PCK Catalog at 1/4 scale. Something makes me want to say it's a Wendell Hostettler kit, but don't quote me on that. The issue now is that, from what I've read elsewhere, Larry Katona has not been in good health for a while so I don't know if you can even get one.
