Got the Carden 330S that I am working on for a friend fired up last night for the first time in around 7 years! I have to hand it to DA on this one. I filled the tank about 1/2 full and started flipping the prop with the choke on. On the 12th or 13th flip, just as I was about to give in to having to pull the carb apart, it popped! Flipped the choke off and 5 flips later it was running. I didn't touch ANYTHING on the engine and after 7 years of not running, it was running in less than 20 flips of the prop. Not only was it running but, it was running like a swiss watch! Could not believe what I was hearing. I figured there would be some missing or popping for a little bit but, nothing. Just running probably the same way it was running when it completed it's last IMAC flight years ago.

Now to get the owner to get me the new radio so I can get this thing in the air and see what all the hubbub is about how Cardens fly. Everyone says I won't want to give it back to him once I fly it or that I will be ordering a kit and building one for myself. Hmmmmm, I do have a brand new ZDZ-180 sitting in the garage :)

I would bet that the person who put that engine away put the right fuel in it and oiled it correctly and plugged all the holes. But I must say DA does build a good engine.

The person who originally owned the plane knows how to build. The build quality of the plane is awesome. Right down to the last details. I am sure you hit the nail on the head about knowing how to store an engine :)

So I have a question for all you guys with twins. I need to baffle my VVRC 40cc twin once I get it installed in a 3DHS 75" Extra. It has a one piece cowl and was wondering how to go about trying to baffle it being only a one piece? Pics would be very helpful.

I'm going the Terryscustom method and splitting the cowl on my Hangar 9 Extra. I baffled a side mounted GP 61 in my Carf Extra with a one piece cowl, it was kind of a pain. Doable, but harder than it needed to be.

As a matter of fact I just ordered the foam to do my Extra this morning.

Yeah I thought of that but this is just a small 30cc sized plane. I may still go that route though. Will need a new cowl first though as the plane used to have a da35 on it so there is a big hole in the bottom I don't need.

Like that it looks just right. Did you make it if so how or did you order it from a supplier. Or did you hand paint it, it's a red head the @stangflyer will approve that one. And best of all 2 red heads.
I don't remember the name of the place I bought it from. If I think of it I'll post it tonight. It was a very nice piece.
