The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I’ve met a few rocketeers over the years that were into the high altitude stuff. Pretty neat. Built several Estes models back in the day. One of my favorite ones was the 2124 “F-22 Air superiority Fighter” Brining back memories right there.

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Last weekend I took the 120” TBM on floats to the lake, snapped some photos and took a some GoPro footage. Not sure how it turned out as it was in superview mode so the plane is kindof tiny. Not much better than getting to fly floats on a calm day when the water is glassy!

Yeah that MEK will get to ya! I had to wear a respirator and/or ventilate the room. Progress is progressing! Wasn't the plan "at least one thing a day?"

Scale 18% De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver by MR Aerodesign

It's just like a CNC plasma cutter, just more precise and usually cleaner. Both are burning through the material but much less kerf (material taken away) with a laser in most cases resulting in closer tolerances and smaller details. It's all based on speed, power settings, passes, and focal...

I saw a friends high-tunnel (green house) and he put in an automatic vent shutters with a fan attached to control the heat and humidity. . . I was quite impressed! Yours is looking fantastic!

I've hand built full scale beaver float struts before... it's been a while. Basically it's tubular strut stock, that has phenolic or metal supports between two aluminum straps. The bolts are aluminum with the threads pressed stamped. Now they just use steel bolts with nylock nuts!

Put together a new fuel jug, can handle another gallon! Not as tipsy as my older can. Been working on my boat motor (Suzuki 140) the last 2-3weeks changing some things that have been bugging me and have no desire to work on it in the winter outside! Other than that we’re all waiting for...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

That's the kit. The pic he showed me was when he was looking through the owners' documents. He no longer has those unfortunately.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I'll try and see if he has a photo of the drawing. Tried to do some of my own research, I think it's based off the Champion Clamp-on Dorsal Fin Kit 178. If you look up the TCDS on the Champ you'll see in note 4 the required service letters (13/14/15/56) to convert a 7AC champ to another model...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

My coworker was looking at the full scale champ and saw that with a newer model they made with a bigger engine had this already incorporated into the design. The owner got the drawings from champ and essentially changed his type certificate to the newer model based on this. So makes sense!

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

So cool! I keep seeing EFI with DA and GP starting up at commercial drone industry prices. There have been a few others trying to produce a product and some making kits like Ecotrons, INF Inject, Loweheiser. Pretty neat that this will one day be in our model airplanes. I think the midrange is...

Might be worth popping the cylinders off and checking the crank/connecting rods and a carb kit: https://www.amazon.com/ProPart-Carburetor-Diaphragm-Compatible-Husqvarna/dp/B084QFD2D6

Ouch! Yeah it's definitely showing just how much is imported to us. Rules and fees are different per export location. eg: I bought an electric reel on ebay from Japan, and after looking very hard I found out that below $800 is duty free. The catch with Canada is that they flexed and said well we...
