The flying field is actually a USFS bus parking lot for the Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center. The busses drop of the tourists and then come here to park. Some companies actually start some tours from this location. Juneau got 1.8 million tourists from May-Oct . . . the town is 35K residents.
We can only fly here in the off season or after 7:30pm when the gate closes. Not ideal! Luckily in June/July we have extended daylight!
