Sorry just need to complain, don’t want to build anymore. I want the weather to change so that I can fly all my planes in nice dry, warm weather. And just do maintenance and enjoy all the planes and changes I have made to my stuff.

Need to be posting in I went flying today.
I feel ya! Been hard to find “free time” with the kiddos but I managed to get a blessing from my wife to tune a couple engines.

One being the timbers DLE55RA that ran like a clock. The other one however had me chasing my tail since last fall. One day it wasn’t running quite right, which is odd because my GP76 on my ARS300 has been a great runner. I decided not to fly it. Ordered a carb rebuild kit, slapped it together and hmm… still kinda odd running and would just run rough and die. Life happened and put it on the back burner. Ordered some reed block gaskets and installed them and torqued the carb to 70in lbs… yeah I’m getting desperate. Ran it today and hmmm same thing would get to tuning and just every now and then would die: I wondered it if was ignition related so I plugged in a spare… same thing… I noticed my sensors would flash red. Now I’m really curious. Shoot even the receivers would!! I unplugged my AR magswitch and wouldn’t ya know that solved it! Long write up, but I did some investigating and found that a wire had sheared from the circuit board. It was intermittently turning my plane off and back on. OMG!! So long story short I sent in a warranty request and since I had a new one here I opened it up to find there is no cushioning/silicone inside it and it’s just flopping around. For something electronically sound this container makes it a POS. I added some foam tape and dabbed silicone where it matters. Should be good now. If any of you have an AR magswitch or possibly the remote fob… take it apart and make sure it’s cushioned somehow. This one lasted about five years before failing.

Good find that is not an easy problem to solve. You just had keep changing stuff until it solved the problem. Just hard to believe that a company like that would make such a stupid mistake and design Flaw.

Ok cut a set of styrofoam blanks for a Quickie 40. Have a short kit cut for a fuselage. I think I still have enough time to build the plane before flying weather shows up.
Wing is made up 2 - 24 pieces of styrofoam. The 2 pieces are being glued together to make 48 inches plus wing tips and it will be 52” legal length. Prefer cutting 2-24 inch pieces and gluing it together. Straighter wing and less hot wire droop better aerofoil.

Great find Nick. had a similar problem with an IBEC, now I measure the voltage down strean of the IBEC with telemetry.

Snoop, seen a video that said you should cut slow enough that the foam melts in front of the wire, going to try that some day. The 1 pound virgin that I just cut was great but still had a little droop but not anything when cutting foam from the big box stores. Had to walk through the factory to pay for the foam, they make a product using recycled foam pieces, they put about 1" pieces of black foam in it and call it dalmatian foam.

I tried foam from box stores and it was treble full of hard pieces and wire jumped around it was bad, did not use it found out that I needed virgin foam for what we do. The worst thing is that I have not been able to find any of it in Ontario. Well I did but had to buy 4 ft by 4 ft by 8 ft block. NUTS.
