Top-Flite Giant Scale P47 Razorback – Segment 2 I keep finding good stuff while assembling the wing Text, photos and video by Tom Hintz Posted – 1-25-2016 Because retracts and flaps have been added to my normal aileron only wings this segment will focus only on assembling the wing. Though...

I have been through alot with this system and I think we are just running into the max speed of the servo motors they use for the tilt and pan. Al you can do is use the biggest frame size and fly slower with less vertical. They have re done the whole thing with a new version coming out that...

True 50cc plane. Need some help please.

I put a DA50R in my RedwingRC YAK and that is a great combination. I generally fly a Vess 23B prop and the motor and plane seem to like that just fine. http://www.flyingrc.net/reyak55seg1.html

I am working with some elastic hook and loop material. I want to figure out a way to mount the tag without sticking anything to the covering or paint as that always seems to pull up what it sticks to if it is strong enough to keep the tag in place. Plus the tag holder is tough to hold with...

I need to come up with a mounting system that can be moved from plane to plane without having to modify the planes. That all hinges on this thing actually working though. If it gets to where it will track general airplanes reliably we can look at coming up with mounts for the tag.

The first two, tilt tracking and tilt range are the two primary issues we have been having with the SoloShot2 so I look forward to trying it once again this weekend given some weather. The next issue for us is to find an easy way to mount the tag on aircraft that doesn't trip the scene marker...

Just a quick update. I received several emails asking if a faster plane might make the SoloShot2 track differently and while I thought it would be worse I had not tried it so went through the new setup (new firmware installed) and repeated the test on my AeroWorks 50cc Edge 540. Results were as...

I downloaded the new firmware and instructions, took the same Sony cam and Hangar 9 Cub out to the field for another try. it is better but no cigar just yet. http://flyingrc.net/soloshotrvu3.html

I think I am on their don't talk to list but that's OK I guess. I never seem to get anywhere talking to them anyway. I can keep checking and trying!

I downloaded the new firmware and think it is different than what I had downloaded late last week. I will update the base and tag firmware as well as the camera controller firmware just in case that has changed before I try it. Still hoping to get out this evening if the weather holds off.

Thanks! I believe that is the firmware I have int he unit now but will update again just in case. I also note a few changes in the setup and will print that out and give them a try next time out! I hope this helps as this could be a great piece of equipment for what I do and what others would like.

I bought it though a distributor that I like a bunch for my photographic stuff. I am stubborn also. I keep feeling like this thing is close to working right and that I am missing something. I guess now I would rather keep plugging away at it. For level based stuff I bet it works great. It is us...

Soloshot anybody? Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I had the same issue with the Tag injecting the video breaks but a piece of foam under the tag got rid of almost al of them but no effect on the tracking, it still was/is vertical challenged. If somebody has an answer for this now would be a great time to offer it up! Before I toss it out in the...

Soloshot anybody? Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I did some experimenting yesterday at the field. I tried using the top of the tree line (about 75 feet up) out in front of our flight line in an attempt to expand the vertical size of the "box" the action would be in. However I also thought I could fake the SoloShot2 into using less zoom by only...

Soloshot anybody? Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Its hard to say in feet how high I was going but with every flight I was trying to keep the plane lower and lower as I kept seeing it go up out of the frame. I was not able to get the camera so fat back from the flight line but I did try to confine the plane to farther out during the flights to...

Soloshot anybody? Anyone, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

It absolutely has possibilities but they really need to step up the vertical tracking a bunch. The fact they have not been able to do so and pretty much stopped talking about it makes me wonder though. I will keep trying ideas I have to see if something in the setup procedure is at least...

Note the "2" in the name, this is version B, that they admit to anyway. I thought that might mean this was the improved version. Not so much as t turns out.

You can just check for firmware for the base/tag and another for the camera controller. I did keep up with updates throughout the testing and just applied whatever the current firmware was. I never found how to identify what version of the firmware is currently in the base/tag/controller so just...

It really seems that they rushed this thing to market and might be lost trying to get the vertical we need out of it. I keep suspecting that here is a problem with it zooming in too close when it goes up. I was going to try some stuff tomorrow bu it looks like rain all day plus my AC died last...
