More disappointing is how few members take an interest in the direction the organization is taking.

    AMA and Multirotors

I wrote this on Feb. 4 2015 in response to the latest information from the President that was posted on the AMA blog. Just as the case with Al Young's earlier questioning of the direction of the AMA they have chosen to not respond. Rusty Jarrett February 4, 2015 at 12:36 am Your comment is...

" At some point we are going to have to discuss raising dues; that has not happened for 17 years. Right now, based upon what is going on in the community and the value our members are seeing from what we are doing, we have a right to ask for additional funds. If AMA took into account only...

Don't be surprised if the current leadership, in executive council, votes to change the name to: ACADEMY OF MULTI ROTOR AERONAUTICS.

    AMA and Multirotors

This topic has brought to light the disconnect between the membership and the leadership of the AMA. I recognize and appreciate the organization has many positives to offer, such as safety guidelines, education, competitions and many years of championing the cause of model aviation. Yet, when...

    AMA and Multirotors

Many good points raised about the multi rotors and at my club we have some of the most experienced pilots moving from their Crack Yaks to flying multi rotors in between flying their IMAC 40% planes, yet they are far removed from the typical owner which is the root of our concerns. My opinion is...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

We had a great day down south with 60 degrees and blue sky. Celebrated a birthday for one of our Jr. pilots with a cookout and birthday cake. Also had Charles Youngblood, the VP of IMAC visit with us. After quite a few flights he told us we were all an embarrassment to model aviation and should...

70 degrees with high pressure deep blue sky in Ga. today. Charged up and headed to the field. We have some extremely talented IMAC pilots in our club and I am not one of them! Having the field to myself I finally figured out my style of flying. I think I should call it " I SMACK " as it is a...

Al, I bet the day you announce the new RADIOWAVE Super Octo multi camera 3D precision flying nuke powered multi rotor you will get a call from AMA HQ wanting to have one to test and evaluate.

Anyone ever done a snap roll and the head come off of your pilot figure? Best glue job to date on the canopy and now I have to try and get it off to repair the decapated pilot. How is that for luck?

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Sadly, if we have four people show up to fly it will be a big day at my field. The up side is even though we only fly one plane at a time you can get the most out of a good day.

Saw the sun for the first time in over a week this afternoon, so A123's are now charged and ready to burn as much Redline as possible tomorrow.

You are correct. They are now advertising 170,000 as the number of members. This is up from 140,000 that was previously claimed.

Hauling Your Plane in a Pickup... Best Ideas? Post them here!

I carried mine in the bed with a SnugTop. I used one large and one small bean bag chairs to support it and reduce the shock on the gear and tail wheel. Worked great. Recently retired the pickup in favor of a Ford Flex. The Flex is perfect to transport planes, suspension is much better for the...

I wish the weather would have permitted me to go fly today and I would not have spent time reading on this subject. I am not going to write an editorial but I hope my thoughts will engage others to express their views therefore through conversation we will reach a better understanding on this...
