Sailplane Modelling the Eta - The World's Largest Sailplane

That might be the understatement of the century Dennis...34 foot wingspan...even the trailer it requires would be larger than most!

Sailplane Modelling the Eta - The World's Largest Sailplane

This is not my build...but one I thought y'all would enjoy! I recently read the January 2015 issue of Radio Controlled Soaring Digest (http://www.rcsoaringdigest.com/). I asked and received permission to share the attached information with the GiantScaleNews Community! In that issue there is...

    Glassing and Painting techniques

So the moral of the story is all our planes should be blue metallic :brian-banana: JUST Kidding! Awesome info and thanks for all the work that went into this test...I feel it really shows the various methods are all largely similar and the skill of the person applying matters more than the...

    IMAC Delro 2.5M Raven Build

I drooled over wheels from White Rose Engineering and other very expensive options...in the end I decided Dubro's with the foam core/rubber skin would work just fine and leave $80 in my pocket ( I must be ill, I never make the fiscally responsible decision).

    IMAC Delro 2.5M Raven Build

Yeah...I think this is actually huge...one of the reasons pants can be problematic is they have no support so any little hit tries to rip the pant off the single point of contact. With this system ( those are 6mm - close to 1/4") The pant has support inboard and outboard so I think it will be...

    IMAC Delro 2.5M Raven Build

I got a bit of time to work on the Raven today :woohoo!: I am waiting for parts for the control surfaces so I can't do much there but figured I could get the landing gear mounted without too much trouble (I don't generally do ARF's so it seems VERY STRANGE to be starting a build with the...

    IMAC Delro 2.5M Raven Build

I think it's gonna be pretty simple Alky6...I'll just cut 2 flat plates that slide into the opposing surfaces, and overlap in the middle where the bearings seat and the rod runs through it for each hinge point...The most important point to me is that this system will allow me to have the control...

    IMAC Delro Raven 3.1M build

You've been awfully quiet JLC... I need you to get moving so I can use your build thread as a set of directions for my 2.5M build! ;) Hope all is well and you're just too busy out flying!

    IMAC Delro 2.5M Raven Build

OK...I've had a bit of time with the Holiday weekend so I replaced all the photos (lost them all in the the website transition) so this build thread is complete. I also worked out the hinge set-up and ordered the parts...nylon bearings from McMaster Carr as detailed in an earlier post, carbon...
