    IMAA is no longer...

That is genuinely very sad news...they had an awesome mission of getting together for fun and no competition.

Banter about me SleepyC on FG.

Sleepy's class act response, coupled with the responses from the other sites owner/management are exactly why I am here...and not there. This place is already awesome and I will do everything I canto help it grow!

The last straw from FG forums!

Last straw for me was when he shut down the last man standing thread altogether. Yes, there was some bashing mostly based on the way the situation was handled, but it wasn't going that badly...just looks like a place where Big Brother decides what can be talked about.

I'd feel more comfortable using Gorilla a Glue.

Thanks for the compliment on my build...but seriously there is no pressure. I have never build a composite aircraft so this is something completely different and I'm interested to see what ideas I can get from it for my future builds ( about to start a 1/4 scale Gee Bee Model Y).

And tail struts are now in...made from streamline aluminum tube from Glenn Torrance models...much heaviere wall thicknedd than KS tubing you find at most hobby shops - this stuff is strong enough to be structural. 1905=960-Struts (1).jpg 1905=961-Struts (2).jpg

Finished tail group build up. The kit does not call fro sheeting of the tail surface...but I was a bit concerned with overall strength so I went ahead and sheeted them with 1/16" balsa. Not necessary and weight fanatics won't like it but I prefer a solid airframe over the lightest possible one...

Got the floor in my trailer epoxied today...a few days drying time and I can start installing all my L-track tie down systems. 1646=870-Epoxy Floor.jpg

3D Aviator, no need to etch the aluminum prior to coating, just a good cleaning with MEK. Give Glenn Davis at FG International a call - he's a great guy and can answer any questions you have. 888.507.8762

@ Taildraggerrc...that is looking really nice! @McFueler...I disagree...for most of us a 5X10 or 6X12 is plenty of room for our needs (excluding those that want to go to week long events and camp in the trailer) these trailers are 1000lbs or less and I think most reasonable midsize cars...

I was so impressed in fact that I called the company back and used in on the interior walls as well. I wasn't as pleased with the results here (still a significant insulation - FGI claims an R20 value with this method), but not as well as when applied to the exterior) so I also used 1" thick...

In reading a thread on another forum, I found a reference to a product claimed to be excellent for a roof coating and insulation. That product was FGI-4440, a commercial product. I called the company and spoke to the owner (?), Glenn Davis. He was awesome...the product comes in 25 gallon...

I am building out a new trailer and want to see what great ideas are out there from others that I can incorporate into my build. I struggled as I don't own a truck and always packed my planes in my small car (BMW 135). But I built a 26% Pitts M12 that clearly wasn't going to fit into...

It is amazing how quickly the bones of this kit go together...after only a couple hours work (mostly me thinking and planning...not actually building) it looks like an airplane to me already. One of the keys to this are the jigs that come with the kit...There are jigs for the fuse and both wings...

So here it starts. I built this plane over the last year and documented the entire process. It maidened a few weeks ago now. I will follow the entire build process...with photos of critical points...but I'll post relatively quickly compared to how far I really made progress. I suspect it will...
