    DLE 85

I'm sure my engine was an earlier production one that still had the carb issue. I thought they would resolve the problems and from your report, they have. From my early runs, I was thinking the Falcon 26-10 would be the prop of choice. I'm surprised there are so few reports about this engine.

    DLE 85

Well after a long delay due to weather and a dozen other life issues, I finally put (3) test flights on my DLE85 today. As a few points of background, I bought the engine for evaluate as a replacement in my old Ziroli Skyraider I’m slowly refurbishing and updating. The Skyraider has always flown...

    To drain or not?

Quite a lot of good info here. I drain my tanks for odor control but never run my engines dry. The bit of leftover fuel in the system seems to keep all the rubber parts happy. Viton or Fluorosilicone clunks never harden. Very few if any carb problems but our local fuels seem better than some in...

    Basic engine tuning.

A small screw type hose clamp around the base of the plug cap removes all possibility of it being loose. In fact, on a couple of my planes where removing the normal cap is difficult, I remove the usual wire spring around the base of the cap and just use the hose clamp. Extremely secure and much...

    Basic engine tuning.

Now be careful talking about FOG's! A friend of mine once said "Remember when we use to complain about all the FOG's at the field? Now we are those FOG's" Age creeps up on you sooner than you'd ever expect. While I'm starting to collect some years, I still don't consider myself a FOG even...

    Basic engine tuning.

Good job Terry. dimes, I know where you're coming from but every once in awhile, there is that one guy who actually cares, listens to what is being said and learns from it. That makes it all worth while!

    Dle 120 crankshaft assembly

Same stroke, different bore. Heck in many cases a 111 crank won't fit another 111 so the chances of the later version fitting a 120 would be slim in my opinion ..... but you never know.

    DLE 85

If I was seeing 7500 on an 85, I think I'd be considering a larger prop.

How is the vibration level on that 85?

    DA Ignition Question

Sometimes the tiny, thin spring is not visible. You might try pushing the silicone insulation back a bit with some kind of blunt tool and see if it comes into view. Other than that, caps are fairly easy to replace at a reasonable cost.

    DLE 85

In another forum I described the metering needle problems I had with my new DLE85. It leaked like a screen door! The metering fork could contact the carb housing preventing it from pushing down and closing the metering needle. I resolved the issue by hand turning a small ball end mill bit in in...

    Getting gas motors running....

I like the part about buying the plugs at an auto parts store and making up a story about what they are for. I have never bought CM-6 plugs w/o the counter person making a comment about their size. They almost always want to open a box to take a look. Sometimes I play with them then other times...

    EME70 Twin

The molded rubber around the bottom of the reeds serves not only to retain the reeds is place but it also takes up space at the base of the reeds. In many engines, this space allowed for fuel pooling which caused rough running during rolls, stalls coming off idle, etc. If you remove the space...

    DLE 61

I don't believe the DLE 61 has quite the power the DA or GP has but it runs so much smoother than the other offerings. Smooth is worth quite a bit to me! Enjoy the new engine!

OK, I'm confused. It appears the engine would fit just fine from the dimensions given by the OP.

    EME70 Twin

Both the DA70 and EME70 use a Walbro HDA series carb which is a slightly larger framed carb than the WT series used on most 55 and smaller engines. The HDA series is also used on most 60 class singles though a few use the WT series. I'm not sure if there is a venturi size difference between the...

I own this engine and confirmed that 172mm front to back is correct. Leave it to Tower to get it wrong!

    Gas engine backfire

Sounds like you know the Syssa story from beginning to present. Its a typical story that has repeated itself too many times in out hobby ...... a dedicated individual with an excellent product but trying to do too many things without enough help. Its very difficult to design, produce and market...
