The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Went to an IMAC contest this weekend at Lake Stanley Draper, OK and had a blast! Brought home 2nd place in Basic, which was really cool considering it was only my second actual competition :) The event was run by @BikeRacer and was top notch! We finished our final round and the unknowns for that...

Don't forget the headers and pipes also. Wouldn't want them to take up any bench space for you :)

IMAC 93" AJ Laser - Electrified

Hey Rich, Are you going to be in OK this weekend for the IMAC contest? I will be there and bringing another member of the club who will be flying Sportsman class. He flew IMAC a few years back and wanted to give it a shot again. We will be getting in around 1 on Friday.

    BME-102 or 3W-100??

When you send it to AI, Gerhardt has the carbs, brand new, I just got one for my 106, in stock. Get the aluminum carb block while you are at it. Those phenolic blocks are very prone to air leaks from delamination and warping. The warping you can fix with sandpaper and a flat surface, but the...

    Too old to "HUCK"?

Hey Rob, I started flying IMAC for two reasons: 1. I needed to learn how to fly better :-) it has helped out tremendously and 2. I love competition. The Extra is nice because it is so slick in the air, but watching the big Edge go through the routine is just eye candy. It is so graceful and...

    Too old to "HUCK"?

I love to play around with the 3D flying because it keeps the heart rate up, at least mine as I am throwing around a chunk of change. I realize that my reaction time is not what it used to be, but I will continue to fly until I physically can't, whether it is 3D, IMAC or just burning holes in...

A monster it is :) Turns the Falcon 28x9 cf at 6510 on the ground! It took about 7 flights to finally get the needles set, but the last flight was awesome! That engine is one heck of a beast and the idle is beautiful! Now to sell the standard 106 with a new carb, aluminum carb and reed blocks...

Would be cool if we were closer together :) I flew with a 37% at Joe Nall in '14 and it was pretty cool to see them both in the air together.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I performed a heart transplant on the 103" Extra 330 last night. Thought it would be a simple pull off the standard 106 and bolt on the TOC 106, but NOOOOOO it turned into a 4 hour evolution! One thing after another kept happening. After all was said and done, I believe it will be well worth it :)
