Make a Custom Header for your Gas Engine

The Dura Fix I mentioned was for my comment that I wanted to try to make some canisters and they would be from aluminum.

Terry would you please share your technique for applying your trim covering above. Is the larger piece on the right going over covering or do you trim the white off first?

Make a Custom Header for your Gas Engine

Cool post Jim. I have been thinking of trying this for some time, even playing with the idea of making canisters as well. I had looked at Dura Fix which welds aluminum together real nice. I was not aware DA sold the header components.

Kevin how did you mask the covering around the stringers when you painted the inside. I always paint that texture on all of my firewalls but never do the inside as it seems like a masking nightmare.

The fuse on the extra is curved so that is why the recess. The Edge are flush to the fuse.

Definitely great work on those cooling slots, good to have more than just the cowl. Was balsa under ann of those slots? Did you CA the wood and or pain it white? I am worried that the covering could peel back but don't know for sure.

    36% PAU Edge 540T

Here is a thread that I started where many gave great feedback. They are amazing. Before I used them I made a sharpie mark on the cable flush as I could to the brass crimp tube and that is how I started seeing that I was experiencing slip and not stretch.

    36% PAU Edge 540T

Guys one thing I have found is I think the slip at the crimp more than stretch. After I started using the Secraft cable tensioners I have not had to re-tighten that often. So easy to set up too.

Another question on the rudder for the 540; what is the preferred rudder setup, pull-pull or push-pull?

So I have 5 Savox 1270TG servos already and probably going to stay on HV so they are 486 oz-in. Is that okay for the rudder? Being I need to get 2 more I could get something different for the rudder.

    36% PAU Edge 540T

I am very close to pulling the trigger on my PAU Edge. I can't decide on the single seat or 2-seat version. Anyone fly or seen them both fly. I am thinking the T would have the "edge" on KE work but I think I would see the yellow color scheme better. That is what I saw fly with Herve.
