    PAU 30% Sukhoi SU-26 ARF 50-60cc

Terry, Do you check the up and down thrust ? We have found that little tweaks to up or down thrust also helps reduce the amount of radio mixing. In the case of your Sukhoi. I would add a degree of up thrust since the wing sits well below the thrust line. Same with other airframes...

    Good prop drill bit

If you can find Cobalt bits, they work really well. They handle carbon props with our dulling. I usually buy a few select bits in cobalt. A couple of sizes for 4 ,5 , and 6mm bolts. And a few 1/16 and 1/8 bits. They are the most common sizes I use the most. As for a source...

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

TBrum and myself were almost going to bring our last builds to Toledo last spring. TBrum ' s big Carden Time Machine and my Hyperlite Slick. But we couldn't commit to the entire weekend. But we are starting to plan Nall next year ;)

    Scale 26% Pitts M12

Going to a 120 engine from a 170 will save you 2 to 3 pounds. At 32 pounds a 120 will fly it with authority. and you will probably enjoy it more because it will feel lighter on the wing and be able to land slower. Also at a lighter weight, the rudder will have more authority.

    Scale 26% Pitts M12

It is an awesome looking plane. You did a great job on the build and finish. I guess I should have led with that

    Scale 26% Pitts M12

Oh my gosh. .. a 170 in a 35% ???? How heavy is it that you would put a 170 in such a small airframe ? A DLE 120 should fly it with power to spare. Hover and pull out to

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

I will leave the motor on the stand until you get back. Then we can try your 26x8, 24x10th, and 22x12 3-blade :fist-pump-and-yes-s

I have one :fat: I guess that means we need to get together when you get back and swap some more props LOL

    da 70 thread

It's funny you mention spitting oil. In the other thread where I posted a video of my 70 on pipes. You will see it blowing lots of smoke at full throttle. We tried to lean it to stop the smoke at full throttle. But the engine rpm would drop. The engine ran at its peak with smoke blowing out...

    da 70 thread

I do have to agree with you on the telemetry. A bunch of us were just talking about that the other day. If does seem to cause more worry and grief than its actual value LOL. I do tune my engines with my ears and my eyes.but I still like telemetry because it can be used as a tool that can...

    da 70 thread

Ok. You have definitely done your homework. Everything you have said is what a few of us have found. We are using Jeti radios and temp sensors mounted to the back of the cylinder heads. Now I haven't put any telemetry on my 70 yet as it's not in a plane. We have also seen temps run...

    da 70 thread

Ortho, Those are large temperature variances. Also very high temps. And the fact that the engine ran very rich. Makes it sound like there is an air flow issue. Sounds like air is packing into the cowl but not exiting or flowing through. What plane ? Can you post some...

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

Lorne at Pro-RC.ca said he was going to try and get me a 2 into 1 header. I have a some different exhaust available to me to test out. Large Pro flow can. Medium pro flow can. Large smooth pipe. RE-2. in my talking with Plane Bender. He thinks a medium can or medium pipe might be too...

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

Hi Eric, If I had it in an airframe I could do a rough thrust measurement for you. But for now, the stand isn't set up for thrust measurements. that's actually a project for this winter. That little test stand is getting a redesign this winter. it's going to get redone to be...

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

The MTW headers that I got from DA are 10.25 inches in length. Set with a 1/4 inch gap gives a header length of 10.5 inches. Consider that the stock bolt on pipe set up. RPM increase over the 7050 stock muffler result was only 7110. An increase of 60 rpm. So I had to start cutting the...

DA-70 and Plane Bender Smooth Pipes

Ok Boys and girls. Crack open a cold one and sit down LOL :very_drunk: I had the chance today to finally test my DA70. I did a run up on a few props with the stock mufflers. Then I did some header length testing with the Plane Bender Smooth pipes. Here are the basic results...

3D Fibertech Hyperlite Slick.....sort of build thread.

I'm glad those moves looked good...... Because they were not exactly planned LOL. The nice fast throttle response of the ZDZ and a super light floaty plane is what saved my bacon

3D Fibertech Hyperlite Slick.....sort of build thread.

Choosing a scheme is the hardest part for me. My scheme is borrowed ;) It's actually a scale scheme. It was the scheme Glenn Dell had just before the Red Bull air racing took a break 3 years ago. One of our buddies is very Internet and Google savy. When any of us are looking for a...
