Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Thanks Wayne for your input, and please feel free to add more and/or pass this thread along to others. What I think this thread is about (right now) is a place to share ideas and see if there is a real interest in pursuing this (DOING THE WORK!!!). It is certainly a start of a conversation and...

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Jerry...I'd agree 100% with your first statement! As for replacing the current freestyle, I haven't thought about that, but now that you mention it, it, that would be a good way to work it without adding to a busy schedule during most IMAC contests. Food for thought.

    Scale 35% Krill Extra 330SC....CUSTOM-ARF!!!

Sheeting done and ready for glassing. I'm really happy with the way this turned out:banana-dance:. Next up is to finish cutting the canopy and mount. I'm going to flush mount it on the deck, so I left a small relief around the front (above the panel) and along the side rails. Then it's...

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

Jerry, I think the idea would be to have an additional entry category, NOT eliminate ARF's, or change what a typical IMAC contest currently is. If anything I think having a scale category that could be flown by those who would like to add scale realism and flight characteristics could possibly...

    Scale 35% Krill Extra 330SC....CUSTOM-ARF!!!

Between packing boxes, loading and unloading, and just generally going through a ton of stuff as we get closer to moving, I did manage to do some sheeting on the Raven canopy. Was hoping to just glue the balsa together and glue the whole thing down, but since there is a slight compound curve to...

    3D Gorilla Glue

Love the WD40 idea!!! Been using GG for hinging for a few years and never had one torn loose! I used to use blue tape over the holes before gluing to make cleanup easy, but will try the WD40 next time!

Putting the Scale back in Scale Aerobatics

What we are talking about with limited thrust is ENERGY MANAGEMENT. That is exactly what full scale IAC pilots must contend with in ANY aerobatic plane flying today, whether they're flying one of the latest and greatest at 1:1 or something with less thrust-to-weight. That would be a fairly...

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

About the only way to add "scale power" in a contest would be to weigh the airplane then measure its thrust (pounds). Throttle limits could then be set to a 1:1 ratio....which is the BEST any of the full scale have. It would be fun to do this and fly the contest!
