    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Thanks to @JC 3D I now have a receiver for this project. I was about to buy a new Spektrum PowerSafe when all the new ones got recalled. Then a friend told me Chris had one of the old ones that had never been used for sale. He even delivered it to my house yesterday!

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I used a pipe mount that Troybuilt models used to sell. I like it because it's lite, easy to use, and fits any size pipe by changing the big o ring that holds the pipe. it's one downfall is since it only uses one bolt, it can turn slightly. on most planes it's not that big an issue, but this one...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I got a lot of little things done today and tonight. Finished up the fuel system, throttle linkage installed the engine for real, finished the exhaust and made a bracket that wraps around the top of the pipe mount to keep it from turning. If you compare this pic to the one a few posts earlier...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I made a new plywood mount for the receiver that fit into some lightening holes in the engine box sides. It raises the receiver up away from the pipe and gives it some air gap for cooling. I also added some thin balsa to the bottom of the mount to keep the heat from directly getting to the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Can you just go out the front? If you can then wire ties between two stand offs has always worked great for me. I can find a picture if you need it.

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

It's not normally an issue with a canister because their so much shorter than a tuned pipe. A pipe can be three times as long as a canister so it can end up running right underneath where you would normally mount the receiver. If you have good airflow, a couple inch gap seems to work fine, but...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

I worked late last night so I didn't get much accomplished when I got home, but I did spend some time staring at it and have come to the conclusion that the receiver is way to close to the pipe. I'm going to need to raise it up some to get some gap between them. I think I'm also going to pull...

The pipe is a KS 1060. The header is stock length, but I don't remember the exact length. I ran this setup in a Aeroworks Extra with a Mejzlik 23 x 8.

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

Well she's back on her legs. Some how I managed to drop a bolt for the landing gear between the outer fuselage and the pipe tunnel and it has totally disappeared. I'm sure I will find it the hard way some time. ;) Pipe is in, I hope it's in for good, it's a real pain.:oblong:
