IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

Brian: Did you sheet the wings? If you did, did you vacuum bag them? I think of the entire process, that seems to be the most challenging. Thanks, -Paul

may sound trivial, but I really like how the white accent trimming is working out!  -Paul

    Anodizing

wow! that just took all the mystery out of the process. Well, there are still a few but that is at the crazy molecular level...Thanks helicanic! -Paul

Greg - thanks for the additional feedback. This venture would be for precision. My freestyle capabilities are pretty non-existent. I do like to try on smaller airframes, but it is usually pretty ugly...   With the shorter ailerons, did you only use one servo per wing? Again, thank you...

Thank you Kevin for the response. I like the idea of putting a 100 on it. Who knows, maybe I'll win it here? LOL. Besides, that will save a bit of money not going with the 120. Thank you again and we will be talking in the (hopefully not too distant) future. -Paul

IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

@Kevin-Young Not to hijack this thread, but your 2.7m extra comp version would just fit on my build table (I would have difficulty shoe-horning in the 3.1m version not to mention hauling it around). I am drooling and would be a nice project to start (and take my time) after I finish my Mojo65...

    Telemetry Usefullness

I am using the Spektrum version on my EF78 w/ VVRC 40. Using temp (only have one temp sensor which is installed on the rear cylinder) and RX battery voltage - have a 9 ch powersafe that powers everything. The real time temp sensor is enormously useful. Was able to troubleshoot some baffling...

    Measuring throws on control surfaces

FWIW, I've used it on a Mojo25 with a 36" wingspan. Has Hitec 85mg's on the surfaces. Just have to be careful setting the datum point as it tends to drop the surface a little from the weight. -Paul

Brian, thank you very much. That makes perfect sense. That will make my next covering job much, much easier! Thanks!!! -Paul

Angle points. That makes sense! I was thinking on the same surface, couldn't figure out how they would help. Thanks and look forward to the photo. BTW, how do you lay down pin stripes, etc. Is that where the windex option comes to play?  Thanks again, -Paul

OK. Really stupid question. How do you use these tools? Do you use them on straight edge to make strips? I am having trouble visualizing how they would work once the covering is on the airframe. Thanks and I apologize for my ignorance. -Paul

    Measuring throws on control surfaces

On the Hanger 9 if the plane is not sitting level can you zero the reading out at neutral and measure from there?  I wondered about the weight.   Absolutely! That is the coolest feature of that unit. You can press the "acquire" button and establish a new datum line. Then simply read the degrees...

    Measuring throws on control surfaces

I use all three. I have got really spoiled with the hangar 9 incidence/throw meter; though it doesn't work all that well on surfaces with small servos - it is pretty heavy and deflects the surface at the zero point. -Paul

    VVRC 40 Twin Props

I had a similar experience, the crank twisted after about 10 tanks. Pulled the plugs and the carb and the crank would rotate backwards on its own if you indexed it to the right place. Very strange. Have had similar experiences (cranks twisting) with my opposed racing outboards after the cranks...

    VVRC 40 Twin Props

I look forward to hearing about your experiences with the falcon 20x9. Planning to use it for 3D? Assuming yes, as this is a 3D forum, but am curious. I am going to change my EF78 Extra over to compete (try to) in IMAC next year. You have yours on the EF MXS, correct? -Paul

    VVRC 40 Twin Props

Here is what I have found, though limited. 20x8 xoar beechwood @7000-7100. VVRC 21x8 - 6900. All on ground. The xoar is definitely faster. The VVRC loads the engine better (especially in mid-range) but is slower - a lot slower and tends to slip a lot. Talking with SupaTim - the xoar 21x8...
