6th Annual Summer Solstice Fun Fly - Indiana Flyers Club, Indiana, PA

We sure did and not a single incident. The following day I went to another club field, there were a hand full of flyers there, three planes went it in a matter of four hours. A ducted fan foam jet went in and put a 30 degree bend in the 5000 ma lipo, didn't catch fire though, apparently the...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Here's a photo of a Top Flite Staggerwing I did a few years ago. Painted flat black, the push rod tubes were 1/8" aluminum tube, and the spark plug wires were 18 gauge silicon insulated wire. Looked real nice.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Reviewed the service manual and found that one 10-24 fillister head screw holds the cap in place. Designed a mount similar to the full scale. Found two 2-56 fillister head screws in the 2-56 screw drawer, I'm sure these came from a Rocket City ball link. I really do miss the Rocket City line...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

It took a while to figure out how to use the radius function and still learning. Like most things you get from Banggood, it comes with very little to no instructions, but hey where there's a will, there's a way. I decided on 3/16" high at the center and the OD will be close to 2 1/4". I had...

Still working on the left side struts, have the main and the rear strut completed but need to reconfigure the jury strut mount, that work is underway. Been thinking about trying the DRO on the lathe to make some hub caps, similar to these.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I have been doing some deep frying with the turkey fryer lately and decided it was time to change the oil. Sounded like a good time to heat treat the tail wheels springs. The springs parts are made from 1095 annealed steel and require heat treatment. The parts were first hardened by heating...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

The left side main strut came out much better than the right, by a stroke of luck I ended up getting three pieces of tube for the main strut. I do believe I will redo the right side. I learned a thing or two while silver brazing the right side, how to heat to avoid overheating. The tubing is...

I have used a pull only throttle cable on several planes, works great. Was the standard on the automobile for 100 years.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Correct, I removed the wing and took some shots that are better focused. The screws on the bottom of the jury struts are currently 2-56 button head, all the screws will be replaced with hex head screws on final assembly
